Harish and I are working on getting the handbook for The Open Source
Way to a 1.0 level by this weekend. It's nearly there, especially
because I insist we publish with all principles in place even if we
don't have a good example for each of them. We should be able to write
up content for each principle and how to implement it. Thinking of
examples is harder, because we need to make the majority of them not
from the technical/software world. I could see us being flexible on
the percentage, but we need to keep from filling in with FLOSS geek
business stories just to fill space.
One of my goals is to get the handbook in to the hands of the Red Hat
engineers who work on open source projects. In that I'm hoping to get
some serious feedback, even pushback, because of the hard-attitude of
the handbook.
Here is my quick list of what there is to do to get to 1.0. I've put
the parts that Harish and others can help with in the top section:
== Shareable tasks ==
The main work to be done in content is filling out the individual
sections with PIE (principle, implementation, example).
1. Go to these pages, find all the "Principle needed", "Implementation
needed", and "Example needed". Work on a fitting example that is
outside of the technical/software world:

Here are the pages that try to explain how to write a principle,
implementation, or example section:
https://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Principle_neededhttps://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Implementation_neededhttps://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Example_needed
2. Can this chapter be completed? Any ideas come to mind to populate
there?
https://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Business_the_open_source_way
3. Complete read of the first 7 chapters for voice and consistency.
4. Should make bit.ly short URLs for each section.
5. Need more stories for here:
https://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Great_stories_to_tell
6. These are stub chapters, but I think a first draft could be written
by Friday, and I'd be happy to publish an early version:

== Advanced or unclear-still tasks ==
1. Diff the wiki against the XML.
2. Patch the XML with the wiki content - probably manually.
3. Update Red Hat Publican brand package - Red Hatters only.
4. Work on TOSW Publican brand package.
5. Build PDF, HTML, HTML single, EPub.
6. Post updates to the website
6.1 Replace Red Hat branded handbook with TOSW-branded handbook.
