In regard to the proposed release criteria:
1) I've come to a point where I accept that I am in a small minority of
folks that do installs from ISO burned to DVD. I am okay with removing
this as a blocker. I will continue using this method as long as I can
and I will certainly make a bug report on Redhat Bugzilla if I find a
nightly drop, Beta, or Final of Workstation Live that won't install from
DVD. I suppose that some day I'll be told that it is no longer supported
functionality and then I'll move on to whatever makes sense at that time.
2) I believe that printing should be a blocker. In spite of the long
rumored, partially implemented, switch to paperless there are many cases
where paper is required. I doubt if many people would graciously accept
an OS that wouldn't allow them to print. Since many folks have network
connected printers, I think that testing a network printer using IPP and
being set up through CUPS would be a reasonable test. This doesn't have
to be over any broad base of printers. Just hold a test day where people
can register their result and report make and model of printer. Sure
there will be some that don't work, but they will likely be uncommon
models or newly released models where the manufacturer hasn't made a
driver available. I don't see where Fedora could be blamed for that. The
proposed method also avoids the gnome printer setup application which I
have an outstanding F28 soon to be F29 bug filed on.
3) I have no experience with RAIDs of any kind; so I can't comment.
In regard to DNF:
1) I am far from expert on DNF. The only commands I feel confident in my
expectations as to what they should do are:
sudo dnf upgrade --refresh
sudo dnf repoquery --unsatisfied
sudo dnf repoquery --duplicated
sudo dnf list extras
I run these as part of testing any new drop, Beta, or Final. They are
part of my non-standard test-cases I run after the standard test cases.
The only problems I have seen with DNF are the (paraphrased here I don't
remember the exact wording) "can't find the ... update". I didn't make
note of them because it was my understanding that they were known bugs
and they seem to be gone from the 09/29 drop. If I see anything new in
regard to these I will report it. If there are specific commands that
are suspect and need lots of testing, please let me know and I will try
Have a Great Day!
