Drop utrace temporarily.
kernel-2.6.29-0.6.rc0.git2.fc11.x86_64 (along with recent xorg-x11
updates: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.5.99.3-5.fc11.x86_64,
xorg-x11-server-common-1.5.99.3-5.fc11.x86_64,
xorg-x11-drv-i810-2.5.99.1-0.3.fc11.x86_64) works fine with "Desktop
Effects" (i.e., compiz) disabled, but produces a complete "white
screen" (when compiz is "turned on"?). Compiz works fine with new
xorg-x11 packages and older kernel (e.g., kernel-2.6.28-3.fc11.x86_64)
System is Thinkpad X61 with Intel 965 graphics.
I've BZ'ed it here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478424
Can anyone provide/verify the command-line command for turning off
compiz/desktop-effects?
I believe it used to be:
"gconftool-2 -s /apps/gnome-session/rh/window_manager -t string metacity"
but this settings appears "gone".
Is it
"gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager"
-t string metacity
?
