Hi folks.
I've just installed the RC10 of Cinnamon with qemu-kvm. I chose not to add an user during installation. On the first boot however, initial -setup didn't pop up at all.
I hope this is related only to qemu-kvm and doesn't affect release blocking desktop but... Here's the scaring question:
Has anybody tried to configure an user via initial-setup with RC10?
Unfortunately I'm unable to perform further tests due to my working timetable.

I've just tried it with RC10 in Workstation Live and it works, so don't panic :-).

That's awesome :). Thank you, Jan, I'm feeling more relaxed now :). By the way, I forgot to mention that this Live was the 32bit one. In the meantime, I've also tried with Xfce (always 32bit) and the textual[1] initial-setup popped up, as expected. Have a nice day. // Giulio (jpigface) [1]: we already knew that there are racy conditions which sometimes make the graphical interface start and sometimes show the textual one instead. Workstation actually uses an entirely different firstboot tool: Workstation uses gnome-initial-setup. It is the only spin that does so. Others either use initial-setup, or nothing.
However, I've tested initial-setup with KDE, several times. It's not great - it *still* has the bug where it sometimes comes up in console mode on graphical installs - but it does work. pwhalen will also have tested it on ARM (where it's most vital that it works).
It's permissible for spins to not include a firstboot tool, but for graphical ones it's probably a good idea to have it, to give people a second chance to create a regular user account if they didn't during install.

initial-setup is working on all ARM images[1] except for SoaS (that may have been running on console but I haven't investigated further).

Hi, if I understand this correctly: "Has anybody tried to configure an user via initial-setup with RC10?"
I always set up a user during installation, this I also did with RC10. All ok. Kind regards
