Upgrade to systemd-36-3.fc16 if not already and see if that fixes it.

Doesn't work for me, still no log-in menu.  Downgrading gdm returns normal operation.  I tested with systemd-36-4, it was newer :)

hmm, maybe my problem is that the machine was yum upgraded from f15 or f14 ....
that would explain why there's no recovery mode in grub menu, maybe.

the system was reinstalled from f16 beta (rc4) and i've found that, after i install akmod-nvidia, the behaviour is the same, no video output after boot is over. removeing *nvidia* fixes the problem.
