hot-swap is a SCSI HBA+disk feature, and Linux_soft_raid supports hot-swap.
Mylex is out of circulation, it was bought by LSI. MegaRAID boards are
the substitute.
not every scsi. you need proper signal relection control and so on, needs a proper hotswap chassis. without, it may work, but you're not guaranteed to avoid signal corruption. typically you get a hotswap chassis with a hardware controller, so...

glad to hear that software supports this, though. i'm out of date on this stuff.
