For over a month now, there have been a large number of broken xorg
dependencies in Rawhide. I've tried using yum --skip-broken with
distro-sync, update, and upgrade. X starts but the login prompt never
appears, forcing me to use text (multiuser) mode. Is there a simple fix
(say manually removing or downgrading some package)?
When that first showed up I just removed the offending packages, did an
update and things worked. The problem might be hardware related.
Rawhide also has had some new issues show up this past week. I haven't
isolated the cause, but I have been having issues with sound and the
desktop not working in fallback mode (no workspace switching, no starting
new processes that display on the desktop). Once I have some idea of
what is causing this, I look at filing a bug.
