$ gconftool-2 -g /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/screensaver/start_screensaver
true
Use gconftool-2 to change that to 'false' and that should do it.
Or you have 'gconf-editor', most likely already on your menus, to do
the same by mousing around.
In rawhide, gnome-screensaver is just a regular autostarted app, see
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-screensaver.desktop.
