Yum is being fixed so that yum makecache overrides the timeout and
repulls metadata.
Would it be sufficient to let those people who want to be sure they
have security updates asap to run yum makecache before doing update
operations?
sounds like the wrong way around "do THIS to be secure" isn't the right
default for an OS ...
