F21 rsync issues
by Mike Chambers
Hi all,
Running Fedora 21 (latest updates as far as know) on both server box and
client box. Server box rsyncs official and upcoming releases of Fedora
and related files (updates, testing, rpmfusion, etc..) and has had no
problems up to this point.
Well, the rsync scripts work like they are suppose to, or seem to. But
for some strange reason, during the day, the beta (currently 21) release
and my testing dir are both being deleted and redownloaded, every single
day. These same scripts and schedules worked fine in F20, so no idea
what has changed. I have used 2 different mirrors to make sure 1 didn't
have an issue, and it happens on both. I do know this, it seems that
when I yum update from the client side, lot of the time it seems (maybe
coincidence) that the next rsync update is when it downloads the whole
things.
So below is a copy of the script used to rsync F21 as is now, but like I
said, nothing has changed on it since the installs. The permissions are
set as how it's downloaded so no idea what is going on or how to tell or
what logs to look at if any.
My f21 rsync script...
[mike@scrappy ~]$ more /home/backups/config/f21
#!/bin/bash
RSYNC="/usr/bin/rsync" # file location of rsync
FLAGS="-avz --delete" # rsync flags
MIRROR="rsync://carroll.cac.psu.edu/fedora-enchilada/linux/development/21/x86_64/os/"
REPO="/rsync/fedora-test/release" # directory to store file
EXCLUDE="--exclude drpms --exclude debug --exclude repoview"
if [ -f "/var/run/rsync.pid" ]; then
RUNPID=`cat /var/run/rsync.pid`
if ps -p $RUNPID; then
echo "Rsync is already running..."
exit 1
else
echo "Rsync pid found but process dead, cleaning up"
rm -f /var/run/rsync.pid
fi
else
echo "No Rsync Process Detected"
fi
echo $$ > /var/run/rsync.pid
echo Beginning Rsync...
$RSYNC $FLAGS $EXCLUDE $MIRROR $REPO
rm -f /var/run/rsync.pid
exit 0
Any ideas on what might be deleting my 2 dirs?

Introduction
by Ivan Pacheco
Hi guys,
I'm very glad to join at Fedora Bug Zappers Team. I have working a
with Fedora and Red Hat Linux since some years ago. So, let's time to
contribute with the project.
I have experience being system administrator. I have used almost all
the Popular Linux distributions, including Gentoo and Arch Linux. I
know how to program in C, C++, PHP and Python.
So, let me introduce myself.
My name is Ivan Pacheco, I'm 19 years old and live at Guadalajara
Mexico. My first contact with Linux was approximately 5 years ago and
approximately 2 years I have been working only with Linux (sometimes
using Windows only for gaming)
So, thanks a lot for some people who accepted me at Fedora Project.
At my signature I'm sending my contacts fell free if anyone want to contact me.
Bye

Read-Only filesystem error
by Christopher Meng
Hi,
I have a portable Fedora installation configured on my SSD, I have 3
kernels installed:
$ rpm -qa |grep kernel\-[3\.]
kernel-3.18.0-0.rc4.git1.2.fc22.1.x86_64
kernel-3.18.0-0.rc5.git0.2.fc22.x86_64
kernel-3.17.0-0.rc5.git0.1.fc22.x86_64
I now can only use the 3.17 kernel to boot the system, because if I
use the other two kernels, the / will be read-only and X can't start
as "Failed to move /var/log/Xorg.1.log to XXX", it's really
coincident that I thought it was a X issue and then I found the system
is not usable with specific kernels.
This makes me wonder about the systemd behavior. Maybe it's caused by
a uncompleted unmount from the early stage of boot process? But it's
only a gut feeling. Any hints for it?
Thanks.
PS:
1. fstab:
UUID=X / ext4 defaults,noatime,journal_async_commit 1 1
UUID=Y /boot ext4 defaults,journal_async_commit 1 2
UUID=Z /home ext4 defaults,noatime,journal_async_commit 1 2
2. systemd-217-4.fc22
Yours sincerely,
Christopher Meng

----------------------
* Thu Nov 20 2014 Jeffrey C. Ollie <jeff(a)ocjtech.us> - 13.0.1-1
- The Asterisk Development Team has announced security releases for Certified
- Asterisk 1.8.28 and 11.6 and Asterisk 1.8, 11, 12, and 13. The available
- security releases are released as versions 1.8.28-cert3, 11.6-cert8, 1.8.32.1,
- 11.14.1, 12.7.1, and 13.0.1.
-
- These releases are available for immediate download at
- http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/releases
-
- The release of these versions resolves the following security vulnerabilities:
-
- * AST-2014-012: Unauthorized access in the presence of ACLs with mixed IP
- address families
-
- Many modules in Asterisk that service incoming IP traffic have ACL options
- ("permit" and "deny") that can be used to whitelist or blacklist address
- ranges. A bug has been discovered where the address family of incoming
- packets is only compared to the IP address family of the first entry in the
- list of access control rules. If the source IP address for an incoming
- packet is not of the same address as the first ACL entry, that packet
- bypasses all ACL rules.
-
- * AST-2014-018: Permission Escalation through DB dialplan function
-
- The DB dialplan function when executed from an external protocol, such as AMI,
- could result in a privilege escalation. Users with a lower class authorization
- in AMI can access the internal Asterisk database without the required SYSTEM
- class authorization.
-
- In addition, the release of 11.6-cert8 and 11.14.1 resolves the following
- security vulnerability:
-
- * AST-2014-014: High call load with ConfBridge can result in resource exhaustion
-
- The ConfBridge application uses an internal bridging API to implement
- conference bridges. This internal API uses a state model for channels within
- the conference bridge and transitions between states as different things
- occur. Unload load it is possible for some state transitions to be delayed
- causing the channel to transition from being hung up to waiting for media. As
- the channel has been hung up remotely no further media will arrive and the
- channel will stay within ConfBridge indefinitely.
-
- In addition, the release of 11.6-cert8, 11.14.1, 12.7.1, and 13.0.1 resolves
- the following security vulnerability:
-
- * AST-2014-017: Permission Escalation via ConfBridge dialplan function and
- AMI ConfbridgeStartRecord Action
-
- The CONFBRIDGE dialplan function when executed from an external protocol (such
- as AMI) can result in a privilege escalation as certain options within that
- function can affect the underlying system. Additionally, the AMI
- ConfbridgeStartRecord action has options that would allow modification of the
- underlying system, and does not require SYSTEM class authorization in AMI.
-
- Finally, the release of 12.7.1 and 13.0.1 resolves the following security
- vulnerabilities:
-
- * AST-2014-013: Unauthorized access in the presence of ACLs in the PJSIP stack
-
- The Asterisk module res_pjsip provides the ability to configure ACLs that may
- be used to reject SIP requests from various hosts. However, the module
- currently fails to create and apply the ACLs defined in its configuration
- file on initial module load.
-
- * AST-2014-015: Remote crash vulnerability in PJSIP channel driver
-
- The chan_pjsip channel driver uses a queue approach for relating to SIP
- sessions. There exists a race condition where actions may be queued to answer
- a session or send ringing after a SIP session has been terminated using a
- CANCEL request. The code will incorrectly assume that the SIP session is still
- active and attempt to send the SIP response. The PJSIP library does not
- expect the SIP session to be in the disconnected state when sending the
- response and asserts.
-
- * AST-2014-016: Remote crash vulnerability in PJSIP channel driver
-
- When handling an INVITE with Replaces message the res_pjsip_refer module
- incorrectly assumes that it will be operating on a channel that has just been
- created. If the INVITE with Replaces message is sent in-dialog after a session
- has been established this assumption will be incorrect. The res_pjsip_refer
- module will then hang up a channel that is actually owned by another thread.
- When this other thread attempts to use the just hung up channel it will end up
- using a freed channel which will likely result in a crash.
-
- For more information about the details of these vulnerabilities, please read
- security advisories AST-2014-012, AST-2014-013, AST-2014-014, AST-2014-015,
- AST-2014-016, AST-2014-017, and AST-2014-018, which were released at the same
- time as this announcement.

* Thu Nov 20 2014 Jeffrey C. Ollie <jeff(a)ocjtech.us> - 13.0.0-1
- The Asterisk Development Team is pleased to announce the release of
- Asterisk 13.0.0. This release is available for immediate download at
- http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/releases
-
- Asterisk 13 is the next major release series of Asterisk. It is a Long Term
- Support (LTS) release, similar to Asterisk 11. For more information about
- support time lines for Asterisk releases, see the Asterisk versions page:
- https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Asterisk+Versions
-
- For important information regarding upgrading to Asterisk 13, please see the
- Asterisk wiki:
-
- https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Upgrading+to+Asterisk+13
-
- A short list of new features includes:
-
- * Asterisk security events are now provided via AMI, allowing end users to
- monitor their Asterisk system in real time for security related issues.
-
- * Both AMI and ARI now allow external systems to control the state of a mailbox.
- Using AMI actions or ARI resources, external systems can programmatically
- trigger Message Waiting Indicators (MWI) on subscribed phones. This is of
- particular use to those who want to build their own VoiceMail application
- using ARI.
-
- * ARI now supports the reception/transmission of out of call text messages using
- any supported channel driver/protocol stack through ARI. Users receive out of
- call text messages as JSON events over the ARI websocket connection, and can
- send out of call text messages using HTTP requests.
-
- * The PJSIP stack now supports RFC 4662 Resource Lists, allowing Asterisk to act
- as a Resource List Server. This includes defining lists of presence state,
- mailbox state, or lists of presence state/mailbox state; managing
- subscriptions to lists; and batched delivery of NOTIFY requests to
- subscribers.
-
- * The PJSIP stack can now be used as a means of distributing device state or
- mailbox state via PUBLISH requests to other Asterisk instances. This is
- analogous to Asterisk's clustering support using XMPP or Corosync; unlike
- existing clustering mechanisms, using the PJSIP stack to perform the
- distribution of state does not rely on another daemon or server to perform the
- work.
-
- And much more!
-
- More information about the new features can be found on the Asterisk wiki:

perl-IO-Socket-SSL-2.006-1.fc22
-------------------------------
* Sun Nov 23 2014 Paul Howarth <paul(a)city-fan.org> - 2.006-1
- Update to 2.006
- Make SSLv3 available even if the SSL library disables it by default in
SSL_CTX_new (like done in LibreSSL); default will stay to disable SSLv3
so this will be only done when setting SSL_version explicitly
- Fix possible segmentation fault when trying to use an invalid certificate
- Use only the ICANN part of the default public suffix list and not the
private domains; this makes existing exceptions for s3.amazonaws.com and
googleapis.com obsolete
- Fix t/protocol_version.t to deal with OpenSSL installations that are
compiled without SSLv3 support
- Make (hopefully) non-blocking work on windows by using EWOULDBLOCK instead
of EAGAIN; while this is the same on UNIX it is different on Windows and
socket operations return there (WSA)EWOULDBLOCK and not EAGAIN
- Enable non-blocking tests on Windows too
- Make PublicSuffix::_default_data thread safe
- Update PublicSuffix with latest list from publicsuffix.org
- Note that this package still uses system-default cipher and SSL versions,
which may have SSL3.0 enabled
- Classify buildreqs by usage

(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/UTCHowto)
# Location: #fedora-meeting on irc.freenode.net
Greetings testers!
It's meeting time again tomorrow! We haven't met for a while, so let's
sync up on Fedora 21 status and anything else we need to discuss.
Remember, we're at 1600 UTC now (everywhere that does daylight savings
should be on winter time already).
As always, please reply to this mail if you'd like to propose any
additional topics!
== Proposed Agenda Topics ==
1. Fedora 21 Final status
* TC3 quality?
* Blocker verification?
* TC4/RC1 planning?
* Criteria status and test case criteria coverage?
2. Test Days
* Any more?
3. Open floor

Fedora 21 Final blocker bug status report #1
by Adam Williamson
Hi folks! We're now into the Fedora 21 Final freeze period, and we
really need to address blocker bugs promptly to try and make the
scheduled release date. On the current schedule Go/No-Go will happen on
2014-12-04, which means we really need the final release candidate built
by 2014-12-02, so even if December feels like a long time away, it
really isn't that much time to get everything fixed!
Blockers needing fixes
======================
anaconda and friends
--------------------
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1166598 "going back to
installation destination picker swaps partitions on disks"
This was spun out from #1158533.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1165714 "ValueError: new
size will not yield an aligned partition"
Seems like dlehman knows what needs doing here, and just needs to do it.
others
------
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1130794 "Missing high
contrast icon" - setroubleshoot
An icon has been submitted for this, but I'm not sure it's actually the
kind of icon that was wanted. AIUI, 'high contrast' is for
vision-impaired folks. Might need some input from a11y and art people
here.
Blockers needing testing / karma
================================
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1160499 "Missing high
contrast icon" - anaconda
This should be testable in TC3, which is currently being built.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1165261 "ipa-server-install
fails when restarting named" - freeipa
This fix just missed the boat for TC3, but it should be relatively easy
to test; install TC2 or TC3, update freeipa manually from
updates-testing, and check that ipa-server-install (or a rolekit deploy)
works.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1164889 "support TLS 1.1 and
later" - openldap
This should be testable by updating a FreeIPA server to
openldap-2.4.40-2.fc21 and then...???...trying to enrol a client with
ipa-client-install?
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1146232 "f21 workstation
ships 'default' network, so loses connectivity when run in a VM" -
libvirt / gnome-boxes
The 'fix' for this is a gnome-boxes build which drops the requirement
for libvirt-daemon-config-network . That build has been included in TC3;
I believe the expectation is that TC3 Workstation should not include
libvirt and so should not be subject to this bug, we can check that. The
update is marked as fixing the dependent bug
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1164492 .
If devs can work on the blockers that need fixing, and QA folks can help
test and up-karma the fixes that need testing, that'd be great - thanks!
