See [https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=574596
RHBZ#574596 - Smolt does not run at firstboot]
= analysis =
We don't have a way to know what firstboot modules are expected, we need
to document this as release criteria, or write a test to report the issue
(for details, see RHBZ #574596).
= enhancement recommendation =
The release criteria do not include what
image:Package-x-generic-16.pngfirstboot modules are intended for Fedora.
Often, firstboot some modules are missing or disabled, and we don't notice
or know whether this is a blocker. Recommend clarifying the use cases of
firstboot in the release criteria.

#84: Define install matrix baseline

Reporter: jlaska | Owner:
Type: enhancement | Status: new
Priority: major | Milestone: Fedora 14
Component: Wiki | Version:
Keywords: retrospective |
---------------------------+------------------------------------------------
= problem =
* We almost didn't find [http://bugzilla.redhat.com/578633 RHBZ#578633 -
Unable to enter passphrase to unlock encrypted disk partitions]
* When re-using test results from a previous test run, it's possible to
include results for tests that should be re-tested. This would be bad.
= analysis =
* F-13 Beta candidate#3 didn't include the correct version of
''plymouth'' (see RHBZ #578633).
* Since it was Beta#3 and not much was supposed to change from Beta#2,
some test results from the previous Beta#2 candidate were carried forward.
* Thankfully, QA found the problem before release while running the
QA:Testcase_Anaconda_autopart_(encrypted)_install test.
= enhancement recommendation =
* Establish better guidelines about which test results can be carried
forward from one candidate to the next (this isn't easy). Or perhaps,
establish a subset of tests that all respins must undergo.
* Perhaps link to, or document at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Installation_validation_testing

Fedora install support for netbooks -- small screen size
by Robert Moskowitz
I am doing another FC12 install on my ASUS 701ee. This is a test
system, and I end up installing every month or so.
Of course with the small screen size, I end up pressing <cntl-N> a lot,
as I cannot see the Next button. And on some screens I just miss some
options, like getting to customize the install packages. I am always
forgetting the key combo to turn that check box on.
Is there some way to either get the ability to pan the screen around or
scroll the screen so that on Netbooks that SHOULD be a popular install
platform for Fedora, can have workable installation?

updates improvements/changes ideas
by Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.
On the devel list recently there was a long thread discussing how we
could improve the current https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Updates_Policy
I gathered up ALL the ideas people put forth that were concrete in a
list for fesco to look into. I'd love feedback from QA/Testers as well.
If you have additional (concrete) ideas to add, please feel free.
Note that these are not my ideas. ;)
The list I have so far:
General:
* Just drop all the requirements/go back to before we had any updates
criteria.
* back off current setup until autoqa is ready, see what we want to do after that lands.
* Change FN-1 to just security and major bugfix. Nothing else allowed.
* allow packages with a %check section to go direct to stable.
* setup a remote test env that people could use to test things.
* require testing only for packages where people have signed up to be testers.
* Ask maintainers to provide test cases / test cases in wiki for each package
* have a way to get interested testers notified on bodhi updates for packages
they care about.
* reduced karma requirement on other releases when one has gone stable
* aggregated karma across the releases for the same package version.
* PK updates-testing integration of some kind.
* allow anon karma to count.
* setup fedora-qa package or group to more easily bring up more testers.
* Testing is only required for certain packages. Those packages are the
packages where problems have occurred before so fesco or other maintainers
affected by the changes deem it necessary to supplement the maintainer's
testing with outside help.
- Option: supplement this list with critpath packages where the
maintainers desire extra testing. This means that we would no longer be
dragging in dependencies immediately... only if updates by the
dependency's maintaner to that package are breaking things.
* updates that only modify the spec could have a lower requirement.
(ie, to fix a packaging issue, no changes in the upstream software).
Security updates:
* allow security updates to go direct to stable
* ask QA to commit to testing security updates
* allow timeout for security updates before going to stable.
Critpath updates:
* allow critpath timeout for going to stable.
Non critpath/security:
* reduce timeout for non critpath from 7 to 3 days.
* change default autokarma to 2 or 1.

rawhide dependant error...
by Rob Healey
Greetings All:
I know that there are too many other dependency errors in rawhide, but I am
not asking anyone to fix it now! I would like to know what other files that
I might have to locally re-build to make this work! I am not too good at
seeing things in a logical manner, so I hope that someone else can help
me...
Here is what I am trying to do and what errors that I get on the terminal:
--------------------------------------
[root@localhost dummy]# yum install gnome-python2-gtkspell
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks, refresh-packagekit

gnome-python2-extras = 2.25.3-22.fc15
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
[root@localhost dummy]#

I would like to say thank you in advance for any help that can be given to
me!
Sincerely yours,
