Aspriing to sound, mountable SD cards
by Steven I Usdansky
Installed F11-Alpha from F11-Alpha-i686-Live.iso on my Acer Aspire One yesterday. Added
modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1
to /etc/rc.local and
options sdhci debug_quirks=1
options snd-hda-intel model=acer
to /etc/modprobe.d/aa1.conf and all was well; I had sound and the gnome panel disk mounter applet would enable me to mount SD cards inserted into either slot even if those slots were unoccupied at boot time. Did a yum upgrade last night. Now neither sound nor SD card mounting via the gnome panel disk-mounting applet work. What broke?

rawhide 20090326 install feedback
by matp75
Hello,
I just tried the following installations with rawhide 20090326 (with
boot.iso)
I've got two disks.
I would like to create a raid + LVM setup.
I've been suffering with all the anaconda bugs and it's getting better
as this is the first time I could finish the install process (until
reboot see bellow!) I could even do it without removing my usb card reader.
I still see many problems :
- The system doesn't boot after install (I removed the rhgb quiet from
grub and it just stop until I have to ctrl-alt-suppr without any clear
error message...)
By the way, the install process was stuck for 5 minutes in the final
screen before package installation.
A top on another console show anaconda taking all the cpu.
After these 5 minutes, a popup saying please wait appear...
I retried the installation and :
- anaconda doesn't keep the md and lvm setup (raid is completely gone,
setup shown is weird.) on a console cat /proc/mdstat is empty. log
seems to show md starting and stopping (my guess is that everything
starts ok, the install process mount the partition and unmount +
unfortunately stop the raid ...)
I did a simple partitioning : /boot + / + swap on only one disk
this time, installation complete and I could boot.
Is the problem with installation with LVM + raid known ?
does it work for somebody ?
should I open more bugs ???

Anaconda "Create Custom Layout" unhandled exception
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Over the last week or so I've had good luck with pxeboot rawhide
installs using custom disk layouts. But yesterday I changed my office
machine to an MSI P43 NEO3 and Anaconda was stumped.
Different versions of fdisk showed slightly different partitions.
After several attempts to install Rawhide, I gave up and installed
OpenSUSE, which installed without complaint. But Rawhide
still couldn't hack custom layout.
I tried reverting to the "last known good" Rawhide from last year
(anaconds 11.5.0.17) but custom layout still got an unhandled exception.
Finally I swapped hard drives and used Win XP to clear partitions
and install Windows on a 50G partition. The current Rawhide was
able to install using the "replace linux" option.
I know the details here are rather sketchy. I suspect the problem
may be related to the motherboard and the apparent presence of
two partition tables on the same drive. And the problem <so far>
is appearing only on this motherboard.

Firefox and the default GNOME theme
by Michel Salim
Is anyone else noticing that, with the default (Fedora) theme, the
folder icon on the Bookmarks toolbar and folder is the brown default
GNOME folder icon, rather than the icon specified in the Fedora
theme?
Thanks,

selinux stopping NetworkManager from doing its job.
by Antonio Olivares
Dear fellow testers and selinux experts,
selinux is stopping NetworkManager from doing its job. To get internet, I have to manually type # dhclient eth0
and get internet connection.
Summary:
SELinux is preventing dhclient (dhcpc_t) "read write" unconfined_t.
Detailed Description:
SELinux denied access requested by dhclient. It is not expected that this access
is required by dhclient and this access may signal an intrusion attempt. It is
also possible that the specific version or configuration of the application is
causing it to require additional access.
Allowing Access:
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ
(http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385) Or you can disable
SELinux protection altogether. Disabling SELinux protection is not recommended.
Please file a bug report (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/enter_bug.cgi)
against this package.

I do not get eth0 active upon starting up, since selinux stops NetworkManager from getting IP automagically :(.
