New bugzapper
by Susan Lauber
Hi,
I am new to the bugzapper world. I have been active in the Docs
Project for a bit now and noticed there were several documentation
bugs I could fix and comment on but I couldn't take ownership or
close. The owners (Paul and Karsten) immediately got me signed up as a
bug zapper and here I am. It may be a while before I have time to
help with anything but the documentation bugs.

ghc conf file in /lib
by Bruno Wolff III
When updating today I noticed that /usr/lib/ghc-6.10.1/package.conf was not
updated, but rather a .rpmnew file was created. I took a look at
/usr/lib/ghc-6.10.1/package.conf and it doesn't look like a normal conf
file (that one might edit by hand).
My guess is that either it shouldn't be getting treated like a conf file
(and hence just be replaced) or the file should be in /etc not /lib.
Since I am not familiar with how this is used, I figured I'd run it by
here first before filing a bug.

"yum update" with most of the rpms already on a USB key?
by Robert P. J. Day
having already installed F11 alpha (x86_64) and done a "yum update",
i copied all of the packages that were downloaded for the update
(/var/cache/yum/...) onto a USB key.
now having installed the same onto another system, i want to do an
update but, obviously, let "yum update" know that a lot of what it
needs is over there, under /media/KINGSTON/yumupdaterpms.
what's the incantation? is that what "yum localupdate" is for?
thanks.

"yum update" on f11 alpha generates numerous MD5 mismatches
by Robert P. J. Day
trying to do a "yum update" on a recently-installed f11 alpha
system, the rpms downloaded, the transaction test appears to have
passed, but almost every single package is complaining about a cpio
MD5 sum mismatch. should i have expected this?

minefield and tbird: spacing all screwed up - workaround?
by sean darcy
Just did yum upgrade, now minefield has huge spacing. The elements themselves are the right size, for instance the 11 Alpha link on the home page, the search box, etc. - but there all separated by large spaces. For instance each item in a gmail inbox list is separated by 12 ins or more.
opera is OK.
I couldn't find a bug filed, so I did:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488082
but I'm surprised there was no bug filed since both minefield and tbird are unusable on my machine.
Is there some workaround? Some setting I'm missing? Zoom out doesn't work. By the time I get the page small enough you can't read the text.

by Joshua Armstrong
Name: Joshua Armstrong
Location: West Allis (suburb of Milwaukee), WI, United States
Qualifications: Bachelor of Business Administration in MIS
I've been a consumer of Open Source tech since I entered the IT industry
(in high school, 10 years ago), but haven't found much time to be a
contributor. I did contribute a bit of code to what became dolphin in
KDE4 in the form of a smb:/// url handler. Since I became unemployed, I
though I'd use my newfound free time to give something back to the open
source community I've benefited from.
I've done IT for the U.S. Air Force Reserve (desktop support, data
management, personnel, and UNIX system admin), a small consulting /
marketing firm (jack of all things electronic), and a large regional
commercial bank (check processing systems support). Currently looking
for decent IT work, hopefully somewhere in Wisconsin but grudgingly
willing to relocate if I really have to.

Greetings :)
A little about me: My name is Jessica Sterling, but I'm known as JStizzle on irc. I work in Production Support at Red Hat headquarters in Raleigh, NC. I have a B.S. in Computer Science, and I'm a Red Hat Certified Engineer. I love supporting RHEL, so I thought I'd take it one step further and contribute some personal time by joining the Fedora project. You will probably see me most during lunch breaks, evenings, and on weekends.
