Four installs of FC9 - only two hiccups
by Arch Willingham
In the FWIW department. I've now installed FC9 four times. I've only had two things that did not work correctly. One install was upgrading my FC8 laptop to FC9, one was a fresh install on my laptop (I had installed Ubuntu beta 8.04 to see what the blather was about and I used FC9 to wipe it out after I saw it was no big deal)) and the other two were a regular fresh install and an install from a live CD.
I have only found two things that are bugs: one was not being able to run the services app and the other was not being able to run the installation from a hard drive (both of which have been mentioned on this forum and bugs posted).
Bottom line...good job so far to all of y'all that do this.

CUPS is missing raw printer
by Arch Willingham
While using FC9 beta (current as of a few minutes ago), there is no "RAW" printer like there was in previous version (FC8, FC7, etc).
Any ideas?

Hi I wanted to look at anaconda translation, however, when I want to
launch the installer from the Desktop, it does not launch anything.
What is the command line to launch it so as to see if it really fails
and report a bug ?
Thanks

memtest failure on x86_64
by Joe Smith
I just built a new Athlon system and decided to test F9 on it.
Memtest86 from my old F8 rescue CD (i386 arch; memtest 1.70) shows all
tests pass, and the system installed F9 and runs stably.
Except...
Yum update dies sporadically with database corruption, and memtest
(v2.10) from the F9 beta install DVD image won't finish two tests
without thousands of errors and it finally crashes. 100% repeatable.
Can you have such apparently serious memory problems, yet the system
runs well?
The BIOS timing settings are still on factory defaults (auto setup).
The system is an ASUS P1-AH2, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor
4000+, 2Gb DDR2 800.
Any suggestions?
Especially, can anyone tell me for sure that the results from the F9
x86_64 memtest are reliable? I seem to have conflicting indicators at
this point.

F9-Beta install from local harddisk - broken?
by Michael Schwendt
Choosing local harddisk as installation source ends rather quickly with
loader ABORT prior to stage2. On the virtual consoles I see that it found
the first ISO and mounts it via loop. But I also see many errors from
mount expecting ext2 superblocks. Known thing?

The system hangs, accepting commands quadratically. There are no
unusual messages as the install has not abended. Ping is slow,
showing several milliseconds ping time on the local gigabit net.
Top shows 50% io sometimes.

F9 Beta install
by Anne Wilson
The install completed, and I sent off smolt output. The First Boot came up
and asked me for user name and password. (I don't recall setting root
password? Maybe I did during the install?) The default login is to gnome,
and I'm a kde user, so I immediately logged out to change session. At that
point I got a blank black screen. Neither mouse nor keyboard activity has
any effect. Ctr-Alt-Backspace doesn't work, and Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't
work.

Testers Rawhide live cd ( 2008.04.04 ) take notice..
by "Jóhann B. Guðmundsson"
If you experience gdm and x not playing nicely together( like I did )
don't login, switch to terminal, log in as fedora or root
tail messages and wait for the fedora user to be logged in automatically
then switch back or simple boot up in runlevel 3 and log in as fedora
and run startx.
