Could the .rar issue be:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441069 ?
Do you see the noted error in ~/.xsession-errors?

Gnome(2.22.0) and *iso and *rar files incorrect actions after mouse click
by Leslie S Satenstein
I downloaded an *iso file to the desktop (F9, Gnome 2.22.0) and at a second time, an *rar file.
When I wanted to cut and paste the ISO file to another folder (gnome terms for mv), the minute I clicked on the file, it was opened to show the contents. I could not select it for dragging, copying or moving.
With the *rar file, I had a similar problem. I did not install unrar for F9, and the first click on the file icon resulted in a window opening. The new window contained a view of the entire desktop. Clicking on the *rar file in this opened window opened another... A recursive bug.
I preceded to the shell where, using mv I placed the two files where I wanted them to be.(to an external drive).
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

By latest rawhide snapshot, I meant the latest one in
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/ specifically to do installer testing.

Just wanted some help to know what information to provide. I will
collect and file a bug report. One particular thing that might be
different from what you have tested with is that I have downloaded the
live image, ran livecd-iso-to-disk and installed from a USB stick.

VMWare Fusion VM lockups...
by Andrew Farris
I have been experiencing virtual machine lockups for the last week or so in
Rawhide, using a variety of kernels, but I was waiting for some confirmation
that it was not my already created/installed VMs.
Both of the 20080404 snapshot Live CDs, for x86_64 and i686, are locking up
within several minutes of starting. They seem to work nicely until they lock,
smoothly booting, starting X, and auto logging in. The lockup timing is random,
I get to use applications for several minutes on some tries.
This is VMware Fusion 1.1.1 on a Macbook core 2 duo (black). Smolt profile is:
http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_4e187f88-0f91-48a1-9a44-373091d6cc3a
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Fusion lately?

You don't need to add an exclude. Simply uninstall it and it wont
bother you ever again.
The reason I made this change is because it is lot easier to explain to
the minority x86_64 users who want to completely wipe i386 to remove
stuff than it is to explain to ordinary users why their Flash isn't
working out of the box anymore like it did in Fedora 8.
This change did create some controversy, and we will have more
discussions about it tomorrow during the work day.

Alt key stops working
by Leon Stringer
Hi,
My Alt key keeps stopping working. Sometimes I boot and it's fine, other
times Alt+Tab, etc. stop working because the windows are only getting
Tab and not seeing Alt.
Is this happening for anyone else? I'm (hopefully) using a UK keyboard map.
Regards,
Leon...

Not seeing this here, I just did an NFS install of 20080405 rawhide
and it was as speedy as normal. This was into a VMWare VM. Do you
have packet captures or something that makes you believe this?
I loaded the same Rawhide on an AMD system and the install appeared
normal. Unfortunately, when the AMD system boots, it briefly
shows a text mode screen and then sulks, not getting to a login.

menu usefulness destroyed, how to make useful again
by Jim Cornette
I lost a lot of my added applets and launchers which I had setup. Is
this intentional breakage or will this be straightened out? right
clicking has add to panel and desktop grayed out.
This is highly disappointing of a feature degradation.

Sunday Rawhide on Intel DG33BU: It's the Ethernet, mates
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Sunday's Rawhide 64 is still slower than a mole in granite on an
NFS install using the motherboard's builtin gigabit ethernet.
I disabled the motherboard ethernet and installed a PCI ethernet
card. Rawhide installed normally in forced text mode.
When the installed sysytem booted, the X server came up
and briefly displayed "choose a tool". This display
disappeared after a second or so, never to come back.
I saw the same behavior yesterday on an AMD system.
