LCDPro kills Plymouth
by Robert M. Albrecht
Hi,
I did a fresh install of todays rawhide, works great. Until installing LCDproc.
LCDproc inhibts plymouth from booting the system. Plymouth needs several
minutes and finally stalls with white "Fedora 9.92".
Booting into single user mode and disabling or removing LCDproc resolves
this problem.
Has anyone else seen this ?

Sunday's Rawhide 32
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
Install still fuzzy on 1920x1200 lcd
Static IP defined, installed DHCP anyway
add/remove software had to be reinitialized and some commands repeated
xmms fails to open sound unless run as root
after telling SElinux to leave xlinrad alone, xlinrad segfaults
trying to access sound. Run as root, xlinrad initializes sound
but then hangs. The same xlinrad source code works with FC9
on my server and on a few iterations of FC10 but not for some
time now.

Todays rawhide will not boot.
by Tom Diehl
Hi,
Is anyone having a problem booting anaconda on today's rawhide? I have an HP
dc5100mt I am trying to install it on. When I boot it it hangs at:
detecting hardware...
Waiting for hardware to initialize...
I tried both i386 and x86_64.
Any suggestions on how to get this installed? Is there some magic command line
option I can feed to the kernel at boot time to get around this?
Regards,

ntfs no longer maps
by shmuel siegel
For the past week or so ntfs partitions are no longer auto mounting. In
addition clicking on the icon in Computer says that it can't mount the
file system because a parameter is wrong. This happens on both a 32 bit
and a 64 bit f10 system. ntfs3g is installed on both systems.

k3b and latest rawhide kernel observations
by Tom Horsley
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=440343
is a fairly long standing bug about verify not working in k3b.
I just added comment #53 to it about my experiences today
with new rawhide kernel:
It claimed to have successfully written a dual layer DVD-R
disk, but then ejected and never reloaded the disk, instead
going into a 100% CPU usage loop (had to kill -9 it).
Later, after trying to get sha1sum of all the files to do
a manual verify, I found that one of the written files
consistently got an I/O error when I tried to read it
(perhaps it crosses the layer boundary?).
That was my last blank dual layer disk, so I don't know if
I'd get the same results trying again or not :-). Anyone
else fooled with dual layer DVDs and k3b on rawhide?

Did Fedora-10 kill my computer?
by Timothy Murphy
I have installed F10 on a couple of ThinkPad T43s, using a USB stick.
But when I tried this on a machine with an Asus motherboard
and AMD CPU, it seemed to run OK but then froze.
Since then, whenever I boot the computer, I get the message
"NO Keyboard Detected" and am invited to press F1.
As the keyboard does not work, the machine boots into
the default OS, which was Fedora.
Once it has booted the keyboard works fine.
I changed the default OS in grub.conf to Windows,
and that booted in the same way.
I thought at first I could never get back to Fedora,
as I cannot edit grub.conf in Windows.
However, a Knoppix CD booted fine,
so I can change back to Fedora as and when I wish.
But my question is, did running F10 cause this problem,
or was it a complete coincidence?
Note that it is quite difficult to deal with the problem,
as I cannot get into the BIOS since the keyboard does not work
until I have booted into Fedora or Windows.
I haven't spent much time trying to solve this problem,
as the machine runs fine once it starts.
I guess I will have a look at the CMOS battery,
and perhaps re-install the BIOS.
Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Progress on sound problems
by Matthias Clasen
I'd like to encourage everybody who had problems with sound in F10 to
try pulseaudio-0.9.13-4.fc10 which should appear in rawhide tonight.
Lennart tracked down some hard-to-find bug. My initial testing showed
encouraging results: flash works, music doesn't die after an hour
anymore.
