F7 and iwlwifi using ipw3945 hardware
by Peter F. Patel-Schneider
Is the iwlwifi package going to work in F7?
The current signs aren't great, as my Thinkpad T60p with a ipw3945
wireless still has the oft-reported problems in F7t4.
I'm willing to put some testing time in, but things are a bit
discouraging so far, I mean F7t4 is supposed to be a beta release. (Or
maybe there is some simple thing that needs to be done to get everything
to work, but what is it?)

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I have moved back to xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.2.99.905-5.fc7.i386.rpm
and now x-windows is working. I will file a bug report.
Regards.

fc7t4 3116: Ethernet Still Unreliable
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
The previously reported problem of a PCI ethernet board
losing transmit interrupts is still present in fc7t4
x86_64 kernel 3116. The last good kernel was 2869, to
which I have reverted.
Interestingly, this bug appears to be machine independent,
affecting recent 386 fc6 kernels as well as the fc7 x86_64
kernel.

f7t4 problems
by Amit Rana
Hi,
I had been facing lots of problems with f7t4 on my laptop
(http://smolt.fedoraproject.org/show?UUID=22c8710a-e702-4bcb-b002-448a3e53...)
All problems are while booting, even the installer did not start in
one try. I do not know exactly what is the problem and need help to
figure out. Boot process hangs in between and starting it for the
second time solves the problem. (sometimes).
Today there were some updates (around 13) after installing those when
I rebooted my x windows is not starting, its showing me a blank white
screen. I did not change "anything", just took latest updates.
How can I debug or fix this? For now I have changed init level to 3.
I can never boot in one try, I am mentioning below when boot process stops...
Switched to high resolution mode on CPU0
it is
Freeing initrd memory: 5639k freed
Simple Boot flat at 0x7a set to 0x1
----------------------------
another time it hanged at
PCI: setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1c.3 to 64
PCI: setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1e.0 to 64
NET: Registered protocol family 2
----------------------------
This is a very regular thing.
Any advice?
Regards,
Amit.

FC7T4 vncserver problems with -depth 24
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
vncserver -depth 24 used to work with 386 Core 6.
But not with fc7t4 x86_64. Gnome and many programs
give various complaints and/or segfaults. Xterm,
xeyes and twm seem to work.
Removing the -depth 24 from the vncserver command
line allows the clients to work normally.
