Bluetooth SCO patches missing?
by David Hagood
I was playing around with the latest 2.6.21 kernel from Fedora, and
trying to get the ALSA plug-in for my Bluetooth SCO headset working.
Upon running my test, I get:
Message: fmt 5, channels: 1
ALSA lib pcm_sco.c:277:(sco_headset_hw_params) Unable to set number of
SCO buffers : please upgrade your Kernel !
Which would lead me to believe the patch for the SCO buffers hasn't made
it into Fedora, is this correct?

hdparm -T 2 times slower on F7t4
by Doncho N. Gunchev
Is someone else seeing this?
F7t4# hdparm -tT /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 2206 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1104.24 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 102 MB in 3.03 seconds = 33.68 MB/sec
FC6# hdparm -tT /dev/hda
/dev/hda:
Timing cached reads: 4576 MB in 2.00 seconds = 2290.99 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 102 MB in 3.01 seconds = 33.86 MB/sec
Is this a real problem?

From Rawhide to Moonshine
by Oliver Ruebenacker
Dear friends,
I am sure some one has asked this before, but I can not find it: If
I am on F6.93 Rawhide with regular updates and want to shift to F7
Moonshine, what do I need to do? Will it update automatically into the
release version, or will I continue on Rawhide if I do not interfere
with the updates? If I want to end up with the F7 Moonshine release
version, do I need to: (a) do nothing, let the updater do its job (b)
modify the updater (c) boot from an install disk (d) take some other
action. Thanks!
Take care
Oliver

"Suspend" and "Hibernate" vanished
by Michal Jaegermann
Another side-effect of recent rawhide updates. I cannot find
anymore any menu entries for "Suspend" and "Hibernate". As a matter
of fact my test machine was doing both in recent times quite well.
Is this expected or a side-effect of that it looks like that
gnome-power-manager currently refuses to run?
OTOH I aquired an annoying alert which informs me that I am
running a session as root. Indeed, normally I am not doing
such things but in this particular case I do as one of few
other possibilities. And??? I would not mind that alert, and I
would even think that this is good idea, if that would be a way to
configure it out. It does not appear to be any.

MEMORY-WARNING
by Michal Jaegermann
While running the most recent rawhide updates I got twice the
following:
***MEMORY-WARNING***: gconftool-2[3563]: GSlice: g_thread_init()
must be called before all other GLib functions; memory corruption
due to late invocation of g_thread_init() has been detected; this
program is likely to crash, leak or unexpectedly abort soon...
Is this an effect of an update which replaces some libraries
or this is a gconftool-2 problem and should be entered in bugzilla?
The gconftool-2 in question was actually installed in March
but obviously something else does now a more thorough checking.
My guess would be that the warning above comes from a new glib2.
