It's in bugzilla already, filed against anaconda.
I encountered the problem and simply added a gateway manually in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:
GATEWAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
I believe I also had to add nameserver entries to /etc/resolv.conf.

FC6T1 Can't add icon to panel launcher
by Gerry Tool
When I try to set a custom icon for a panel launcher I just created, the
dialog crashes as soon as I try to type into the address field. When I
navigate to the directory and try to select the icon, it will not
select.
Can anyone verify this? What component should a bug be filed against?
Thanks.

Installation Report
by Chasecreek Systemhouse
1999 iMac PPC 320MB Ram 9GB HD ATI Rage 128 8MB VRAM.
Everything installed fine, all 6 CDs.
Afterward, during a yum upgrade, I got this error:
Installing: kernel ####################### [15/42]
grubby: error moving /etc/yaboot.conf- to /etc/yaboot.conf: Permission denied
Failed to initialize HFS working directories: Permission denied
ybin: /dev/hda2 appears to have never had a bootstrap installed,
please run mkofboot
The only thing I did not test during install is that I did not allow
the installer to re-create the /dev/hda1 Apple Label -- Ive had so
much trouble with past FC PPC installers not creating the Apple Disk
label that I pretty much just use the Dsk label from Ubuntu.
Im not yet sure but I believe I can fix that by mounting the /dev/hda2
Apple Boot and manually editing the yaboot.conf -- still not real sure
why its not linked to the one in /etc/yaboot.conf
Otherwise everything appears to be working.

FC6T1 yum updates dropped off list?
by Andy Burns
Just installed FC6T1 from DVD, it went fairly smooth, couple of issues
I'll bugzilla separately (loss of sound cand monitor recognition
compared to FC5) but this is more of a query ...
After the install, pup found a *lot* of updates it wanted to install, I
didn't fancy waiting for what looked like hundreds of MiB of RPMs to
install at that time, so I installed yumex and just selectively upgraded
1) kernel to 2.6.17-1.2307_FC6
2) the fedora-release package
3) makedev
4) everything related to selinux
I then rebooted to pickup the new kernel and went back into yumex
expecting to let it download all it originally wanted to while I had a
poke around the new o/s.
However all that yum/yumex wants to upgrade now is libgnomeui, I tried a
yum clean metadata and clean all, still the same, am I seeing this issue
by now hitting an outdated mirror? Or did the update of the
fedora-release package change the set of repos yum is pointing?

RFE: yum
by Jason Dravet
Hello,
I was wondering what support there is for the following idea: having yum be
able to remove the ntfs module for the kernel yum is removing. Right now I
install the ntfs module from linux-ntfs.org for each kernel release. When I
do a yum update and a new kernel is avaialable and installed, an old kernel
is also removed. It would be nice if yum removed the old ntfs kernel module
as well. This saves me from having to clean up after it i.e. remove the old
module package and rm -rf /lib/modules/old-kernel to get rid of the
remaining directory structure. If any one else likes this idea I will open
a bugzilla RFE for it.
Thanks,
Jason

Questions from a testing newbie
by Jay Cliburn
Today I took my first steps into the world of FC test releases by
installing FC6T1, and I have a few questions as a result.
After installing, I performed a yum update and was astonished to see 145
new packages available, amounting to more than 180 megabytes of
downloads. I presume this to be because test1, even though released
just a day or two ago, was frozen several days ago, and all these
updates get it caught up to today's development snapshot, right?
I'm rather bandwidth limited at home, living in a rural community with a
256/128 DSL connection (that reset about 10 times today because of a
flaky phone line on the telco side -- no kidding; I had no phone at all
for about 4 hours yesterday). Is the average daily download for the
development stuff in the tens of megabytes?
If I keep up with daily updates, will I be current when FC6T2 arrives?
Will I need to dump test 1 and do a clean install of test 2, or do most
folks just keep the initial test release installed and continue with
updates as a way to approximate subsequent releases?
Thanks for your time,
Jay

Failures with cdrecord
by Janina Sajka
All of a sudden I'm finding myself unable to burn a cd rom with
cdrecord. I'm having the same problem on three different systems, each
of which is running fully updated FC5. The cdrecord on each of these
machines is cdrecord-2.01.01.0.a03-3, unchanged since March last. I'm
also quite certain that I had no problems burning back around the
beginning of May. I've tried a few different discs, and scsi, ide, usb
and firewire burners--all with the similar failures like the following:
cmd finished after 0.001s timeout 200s

Is it me? My media? Or something in some library? I've downversioned two
kernels, but still get the same failure.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
