what is 'vmmouse'?
by Michal Jaegermann
In updates from today a new package 'xorg-x11-drv-vmmouse' showed
up. Its description is rather terse "X.Org X11 vmmouse input
driver". There is also 'man vmmouse' but it does not differ that
much from 'man mouse-driver' from an already present package
'xorg-x11-drv-mouse'.
SYNOPSIS section is the same in both cases and main differences are
that some options are missing for vmmouse (EmulateWheelTimeout),
some defaults are different, and vmmouse consistenly refers to
XFree86, XF86Config, www.xfree86.org, ... which does not look
correct in the context. Hence my question.

Summary : SELinux library and simple utilities
Description :
Security-enhanced Linux is a feature of the Linux® kernel and a number
of utilities with enhanced security functionality designed to add
mandatory access controls to Linux. The Security-enhanced Linux
kernel contains new architectural components originally developed to
improve the security of the Flask operating system. These
architectural components provide general support for the enforcement
of many kinds of mandatory access control policies, including those
based on the concepts of Type Enforcement®, Role-based Access
Control, and Multi-level Security.
libselinux provides an API for SELinux applications to get and set
process and file security contexts and to obtain security policy
decisions. Required for any applications that use the SELinux API.

Fedora Core 5 Test Update: xen-3.0.2-3.FC5
by Stephen C. Tweedie
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2006-740
2006-06-22
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 5
Name : xen
Version : 3.0.2
Release : 3.FC5
Summary : Xen is a virtual machine monitor
Description :
This package contains the Xen hypervisor and Xen tools, needed to
run virtual machines on x86 systems, together with the kernel-xen*
packages. Information on how to use Xen can be found at the Xen
project pages.
Virtualisation can be used to run multiple versions or multiple
Linux distributions on one system, or to test untrusted applications
in a sandboxed environment. Note that the Xen technology is still
in development, and this RPM has received extremely little testing.
Don't be surprised if this RPM eats your data, drinks your coffee
or makes fun of you in front of your friends.

Some Gnome menu items unresponsive on FC6 test 1 as user
by Stanton Finley
I am not able for example to change the panel browser icon from default
to firefox.png by right clicking the default icon, selecting
"Properties", clicking "Icon:" and trying to select the firefox icon.
"System" > "Administration" apps do not appear at all or if they do
appear are not responsive. For example "Login screen" does not allow a
selection and requires a force quit to close.

Adventures with x86_64 FC6T1
by Chuck Forsberg WA7KGX
I have an Asus a8n-e motherboard with four SATA drives.
Installing FC6T1 was an adventure. The install needs
a lot of poking around to install Fedora on the correct
drive and to get the boot written to the MBR of the
correct drive. Even then I had to edit grub.conf to
correct the Windows boot.
The install would not accept DNS or gateway; I had to
fix that after the install.
I was able to set 1920x1200 24 bit color on the Nvidia
display, but dual head doesn't work.
Yum update is unhappy with missing dependencies:
Error: Missing Dependency: librpcsecgss.so.1()(64bit) is needed by
package nfs-utils
Error: Missing Dependency: libxklavier.so.10()(64bit) is needed by
package gnome-applets
