Fedora Core 6 Test Update: dhcp-3.0.5-1.fc6
by David Cantrell
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2006-1355
2006-11-29
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 6
Name : dhcp
Version : 3.0.5
Release : 1.fc6
Summary : DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server and relay agent.
Description :
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol which allows
individual devices on an IP network to get their own network
configuration information (IP address, subnetmask, broadcast address,
etc.) from a DHCP server. The overall purpose of DHCP is to make it
easier to administer a large network. The dhcp package includes the
ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
To use DHCP on your network, install a DHCP service (or relay agent),
and on clients run a DHCP client daemon. The dhcp package provides
the ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
The dhclient script was overwriting /etc/ntp/step-tickers,
which would lead to ntpd failing to start on laptops. In
addition to fixing that problem, this update also upgrades
the DHCP software to dhcp-3.0.5 and incorporates all of the
fixes currently found in the Fedora development tree.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

* Tue Oct 18 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> - 11:3.0.3-10
- Allow dhclient route metrics to be specified with DHCP options:
The dhcp-options(5) man-page states:
'option routers ... Routers should be listed in order of preference'
and
'option static-routes ... are listed in descending order of priority' .
No preference / priority could be set with previous dhclient-script .
Now, dhclient-script provides:
Default Gateway (option 'routers') metrics:
Instead of allowing only one default gateway, if more than one router
is specified in the routers option, routers following the first router
will have a 'metric' of their position in the list (1,...N>1).
Option static-routes metrics:
If a target appears in the list more than once, routes for duplicate
targets will have successively greater metrics, starting at 1.
* Mon Oct 17 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> - 11:3.0.3-8
- further fix for bug 160655 / ISC bug 15293 - upstream patch:
do NOT always strip trailing nulls in the dhcpd server
- handle static-routes option properly in dhclient-script :
trailing 0 octets in the 'target' IP specify the class -
ie '172.16.0.0 w.x.y.z' specifies '172.16/16 via w.x.y.z'.

to allow easy customization to support other non-default DHCP options -
documented in 'man 8 dhclient-script' .

* Fri Jul 29 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 11:3.0.3-1
- Upgrade to upstream version 3.0.3
- Don't apply the 'default boot file server' patch: legacy
dhcp behaviour broke RFC 2131, which requires that the siaddr
field only be non-zero if the next-server or tftp-server-name
options are specified.
- Try removing the 1-5 second wait on dhclient startup altogether.
- fix bug 163367: supply default configuration file for dhcpd

- Upgrade to upstream version 3.0.3rc1
- fix bug 163203: silence ISC blurb on configtest
- fix default 'boot file server' value (packet->siaddr):
In dhcp-3.0.2(-), this was defaulted to the server address;
now it defaults to 0.0.0.0 (a rather silly default!) and
must be specified with the 'next-server' option ( not the tftp-boot-server option ?!?)
which causes PXE boot clients to fail to load anything after the boot file.
* Fri Jul 8 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 10:3.0.2-14.FC5
- Allow package to compile with glibc-headers-2.3.5-11 (tr.c's use of __u16)

- Fix dhcdbd set for multiple interfaces
* Wed Apr 27 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 10:3.0.2-11
- as pointed out by Peter Jones, dhclient-script spews
- 'chkconfig: Usage' if run in init state 1 (runlevel returns "unknown".)
- this is now corrected.
* Mon Apr 25 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 10:3.0.2-10
- dhclient-script dhcdbd extensions.
- Tested to have no effect unless dhcdbd invokes dhclient.

and dhclient runs OK under dhcpc_t with SELinux enforcing.
- fix bug 155506: 'predhclien' typo (emacs!).
* Mon Apr 18 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> 10:3.0.2-8
- Fix bugs 153244 & 155143:
o restore dhclient-script 'restorecon's
o give dhclient and dhclient-script an exec context of
'system_u:object_r:sbin_t' that allows them to run
domainname / hostname and to update configuration files
in dhclient post script.

Fedora Core 6 Test Update: eclipse-3.2.1-23.fc6
by Andrew Overholt
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Test Update Notification
FEDORA-2006-1351
2006-11-29
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 6
Name : eclipse
Version : 3.2.1
Release : 23.fc6
Summary : An open, extensible IDE
Description :
The Eclipse Platform is designed for building integrated development
environments (IDEs) that can be used to create applications as diverse
as web sites, embedded Java(tm) programs, C++ programs, and Enterprise
JavaBeans(tm).
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
This update includes bug fixes for the following bugs:
* Fix for Bug #207016: Eclipse packages are not multilib
* Workaround for Bug #175547: Eclipse does not prompt for
workspace when run natively
* Fix for Bug #199961: ecj can't cope with [] brackets in
pathnames
* Fix for Bug #202585: Non-SDK features cannot be enabled or
disabled
* Fix for Bug #211008: Unowned directories
* Fix for Bug #213572: Unable to add eclipse update sites
* Fix for Bug #209249: out of order compilation of source
files for ecj
* Fix for Bug #207754: "help -> about -> features details"
doesn't show non-SDK features
* Fix for Bug #209393: extension points don't work with gcj
Please note that this update changes the filesystem layout
of some of the packages and users may have to run eclipse
once with '-clean' after the update is complete. We do not
think this will be necessary in the vast majority of cases,
but if there are startup errors, try starting eclipse from a
terminal to see error output. Alternately, users may remove
the configuration in ~/.eclipse (i.e. rm -r ~/.eclipse).
This will remove non-packaged plugins (ie. user-installed
via the update manager), though, so resort to this option
with caution.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Tue Nov 28 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-23
- Add patch to add platform to ~/.eclipse's platform.xml. This maintains
user-installed plugins but allows us to remove the pre-configured
platform.xml in the OSGi configuration area.
* Fri Nov 24 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-22
- FC6 update without work to move arch-specific stuff to %{_libdir}.
* Fri Nov 17 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-21
- Add patch to workaround an xml parsing bug in libgcj (gcc bug #29853).
- Resolves: #209393.
* Fri Nov 17 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-20
- Revise gre64 patch to just do ppc64 addition and not ordering change.
* Thu Nov 16 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-19
- Add patch to look at gre64.conf on ppc64.
* Fri Nov 10 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-18
- Remove SWT ON_TOP patch as it is fixed in 3.2.1.
* Thu Nov 9 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-17
- Add file level requirement for swt fragment to rcp and platform packages.
This is needed so that the rcp and platform packages pull in the swt package
of the correct word size.
* Mon Nov 6 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-16
- Move copy-platform back to %{_datadir}/eclipse.
- Require gjdoc >= 0.7.7-14 as it generates consistent html across archs.
- Move most of the doc plugins back to %{_datatdir}/eclipse now that gjdoc
is fixed.
* Fri Nov 3 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-15
- Make sdk require config.ini itself rather than the package to deal with the
bi-arch installation situation.
- Move sdk feature and plugin to %{_libdir} so we can check for its existence
in the post scripts.
* Thu Nov 2 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-14
- Remove post sections that munge eclipse.product; always set it to
org.eclipse.platform.ide or org.eclipse.sdk.ide.
- Remove changelogs prior to 3.2.0.
* Thu Nov 2 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-12

generated differently on different arches.
- Fix multilib problem when there are two or more jars within a jar.
- BR dos2unix always (for mac2unix).
* Wed Nov 1 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-11
- Move copy-platform to %{_libdir}/eclipse
- Move the platform.source, icu4j, icu4j.source, help.webapp and
update.core.linux plugins to %{_libdir}/eclipse/plugins because these plugins
have platform specific content. Some of the platform specific content may be
a result of bugs in libgcj. These need to be investigated.
- Disable building the help indexes on all archs so that we have the same doc
plugins on all archs.
- Remove org.apache.ant_1.6.5/bin/runant.py to avoid multilib conflicts.
- Repack all the jars and the jars within those jars. This is needed
to make this package multilib compatible.

%{_libdir}/eclipse/plugins.
* Wed Nov 1 2006 Andrew Overholt <overholt(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-11

- Run initializer *after* splitting install into arch-specific and
arch-independent locations.

- Get rid of broken symlinks in tomcat plugin.

target-dependent.
* Sat Oct 28 2006 Ben Konrath <bkonrath(a)redhat.com> 3.2.1-7
- Add patch for ecj [] classpath problem.
- Remove configuration files from rcp files list.
- Add patch set bindir and shared config patch to allow the eclipse binary
to sit in %{_bindir} and remove the symlinks. This patch also allows us to
set osgi.sharedConfiguration.area config on a per build basis so that the
configuration directory can be arch dependant.

this patch.

gnome-terminal has a weight problem
by Jonathan Corbet
Ever since I updated to post-FC6 rawhide on my x86-64 system,
gnome-terminal has been unreliable. It occasionally crashes, often at
strange times. I put it into Bugzilla
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=217378) but have
not heard any more - how dare people not fix my bug (for free) within 24
hours?!? :)
I am curious, though, as to whether I'm really the only one who sees
this. The problem appears to be related to a memory leak. A quick ps
on my system shows:
corbet 14974 0.0 5.4 333732 55532 ? Ssl Nov27 0:13 gnome-terminal
A 300MB address space (50MB resident) is a bit on the hefty side, even
considering that we're talking about a GNOME application here. Doing
the same thing an hour later shows this:
corbet 14974 0.0 5.0 341236 52032 ? Ssl Nov27 0:14 gnome-terminal
Whereas when I put in the BZ entry I had this:
corbet 14974 0.0 2.3 295520 24288 ? Rsl 07:54 0:02 gnome-terminal
In other words, the thing is growing at a fast and steady rate.
Personally, I think that a terminal emulator should know its place, and
gnome-terminal has failed to keep within its bounds. Is this something
special it's doing for me, or is it a wider problem?
Thanks,
jon
