Hald SeLinux problem - possibly sister to the gnome-power-manager issue mentioned earier today.
by John courie
When I updated to the following policy:
[root@rallypointgamma john]# rpm -qa *\policy\*
policycoreutils-1.29.9-2
selinux-policy-2.2.2-1
selinux-policy-targeted-2.2.2-1
The hald stopped working, and my ipod (ducks behind overturned table)
and a usb hard disk
couldnt be found.
So I puttered around and read this mornings mail and decided to
disable selinux and hald came back.
here is more info on where I am at:
Kernel 1871
hal-0.5.6-2
hal-cups-utils-0.5.5-1
hal-devel-0.5.6-2
and what reall suprised me:
check out my panel
http://www.ontheb.us/Potential_hald_bug.png
it looks like the mount applet is acting a bit odd.
anybody seen this should I file a bug?

gnome-power-manager disappears if selinux enabled
by Roger Grosswiler
Again,
if i have selinux enabled, the g-p-m icon disappears and i find the
following in my audit.log:
type=AVC msg=audit(1137522144.013:60): avc: denied { execute } for
pid=2641 comm="hald" name="hal-system-power-set-power-save" dev=dm-0
ino=1763088 scontext=system_u:system_r:hald_t:s0
tcontext=system_u:object_r:usr_t:s0 tclass=file
type=PATH msg=audit(1137522144.013:60): item=0
name="/usr/share/hal/scripts/hal-system-power-set-power-save" flags=101
inode=1763088 dev=fd:00 mode=0100755 ouid=0 ogid=0 rdev=00:00
so, in this, audit2allow says:
[root@niobe audit]# audit2allow -i audit.log | grep hal
allow hald_t boot_t:dir getattr;
allow hald_t home_root_t:dir search;
allow hald_t initctl_t:fifo_file write;
allow hald_t initrc_var_run_t:file lock;
allow hald_t mnt_t:dir create;
allow hald_t mnt_t:file write;
allow hald_t sysctl_fs_t:dir search;
allow hald_t usr_t:file execute;
allow hald_t var_lib_nfs_t:dir search;
(ok, nfs really doesn't belong to the g-p-m :-D )
HTH, Thanks

Garbage Install Bug ?
by Chasecreek Systemhouse
If I type garbage at the Linux Install Prompt:
xx@#KJB$JB$:>RJBW:UJ;ojbdsvlvh zldfiuszb fp8sad;
Like that -- the install fails to do anything (as it should) -- but
this seems to fix bad installation situations where the install kernel
panics and the machine has to be switched off to actually restart the
install process.
Am I crazy?

repodata/repomd.xml

Does repodata off the development branch match the same file on the
install CD? Can't I install from the development branch?

FC5T2 installer does not recognize X800 PCIE
by Giuseppe Castagna
Hi,
I have installed FC5T2 x86_64 from DVD. The installer does not
recognizes my Radeon X800 PCIExpress card: when the graphic installation
(should) start the only visible effect is that my LCD is powered off
(tried both DVI and VGA). The text installation fills the screen with
garbage, nevertheless the information was readable enough to let me
install the FC5T2.
system-config-display did not recognize my graphic card, but after 5
mins of trials and errors with xorg.conf, I now have my graphic card
functional. Now fully, since mplayer with xv does not work full-screen,
but I guess this is an xorg issue (but if you know how to fix it, please
let me know).
The rest nearly works (still have some problem to use the spdif
output of my MSI Neo4 Platinum embedded sound.
Hope it will be useful. If you want I can attach my xorg.conf

Gnome-screensaver
by Don Springall
How do I switch my system back to x-screensaver. I prefer some of the
screensavers provided there more.
Gnome screensaver seems to have only seven screens.
I have the following screensavers installed:
xscreensaver-base-4.23-1
gnome-screensaver-debuginfo-2.13.5-4
xscreensaver-extras-4.23-1
gnome-screensaver-2.13.5-4
Also will gnome-power-manager work with xscreensaver ?
