this would be great, but I have realized there is not
so much documentation on how to use this thing.
Any pointer?
Specifically, what parameters (URLs or anything else)
should I have written on paper *before* I start?

Of course, and thanks for suggesting the rescue iso. I had
not thought of it. However, my questions also had one more,
slightly different meaning that is:
if anybody *already* knows, for any reason, that any FC5t2
x64_86 install would give me the *same* problems (current
installer still incompatible with GeForce6150 VGA, FC5t2
kernel still missing the patches/drivers for that onboard
ethernet, whatever) please tell me before I even *try*
(=pay in dialup...) other downloads
Of course, any general comment/explanation/tip on what I
experienced is still very welcome!
TIA,
D.

"prelink" Issues?
by Chasecreek Systemhouse
Kernel 1828.2 upgrade to 1871 -- PRELINK Issues?
OK, I have been using 1826.2 kernel while trying the test the 1871
Kernel -- however yesterday and this morning I got an error that
ld.so.1 doesn't exists or some such ELF error.
Last night my 1826.2 kernel successfully ran prelink and this morning
while using 1871 all the binaries stopped executing...
Question: Is this a known bug in general or somehting unique to PPC?
I saw nothing in bugzilla about it.
Should I file a Bug on it?

smbfs module
by J M
Got this trying to mount an smb share from my FC5T1 system with kernel
2.6.15-1.1826.2.10_FC5:
ERROR: smbfs filesystem not supported by the kernel
Please refer to the smbmnt(8) manual page
smbmnt failed: 255
And trying to compile a custom kernel with smbfs support as a module results
in the below errors. I'm kind of lost as to what I need to do to get smbfs
support; it worked great in FC4, but does not seem to be the case anymore.

broken iptables work around
by J M
I got iptables to work by downloading and installing the source rpm for the
kernel and editing the spec file for the kernel to remove the git4 patch. I
compiled the kernel and installed, and now iptables appears to be working...
this was using the 1871_FC5 source...
