k3b wins xcdroast needs an update
by RaXeT
To put it succinctly, xcdroast-0.98a15-2 can't detect my firewire
BUSLink 48x12x48 drive, but loading k3b-0.11.10-1 ran flawlessly and
burnt my iso (FC2-i386-disc1.iso at an outstandingly high average 40x or
6071 KB/s. Time 3:00 minutes - no verify.

It is difficult for me to check at this moment as the machine where
this was observed "went to work" and it will be back only in a
month. Some other who were affected by this problem should re-test
and carry the banner. :-)

I am running the 2.6.6-1.403 kernel now and it seems it sort of works.
You can run a game in windowed mode but if you try to run it full screen
it knocks you out of the desktop and puts you to the login screen. Just
for the hell of it I checked prelink.log and any xscreensaver that uses
opengl I got and error. Here's an example;
/usr/sbin/prelink: /usr/X11R6/lib/xscreensaver/flurry: Cannot prelink
against non-PIC shared library /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2
I don't know if that would have anything to do with the problem but I
thought you might want to know.

xconfig for kernel unreadable
by Kontogiannis Theophanis
Hi all,
I have FC2 (no updates - just the 4 cd from the site)
and I try to make xconfig
whell a window pops up and instead of getting readable information, I get
small circles (instead of characters) with various parts filled in black
(half, full, quarter.. no circles just spaces....etc)
I have English US and English language only as system wide and during the
session!
any hints?

Try the i586 kernel instead of the i686 one. If that works then
something
in the 4G/4G support has probably been broken again. Either way please
let
us know what happens
______________________________________________________________________
The i586 kernel worked. I tried to recompile with 4G/4G turned off but
during the recompile it wouldn't create the custom kernel directory
in /lib/modules.

pppd problem again!

I'm running 2.6.4 compiled from a standard source and have no problem
with the active-filter option when using pppd 2.4.2, also compiled
from a standard source. It's hard to believe the PPP support code
in 2.6.5 would cause the error. The only change from 2.6.4 is
[PATCH] Patch to hook up PPP to simple class sysfs support
according to
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.5
Looks like FC may not have changed the pppd code. If I jumped to a
wrong conclusion then I apologize. Here's the line in the standard
pppd 2.4.2 code that generates error:
pppd/options.c: option_error("error in active-filter expression: %s\n", pcap_
geterr(&pc));
Perhaps your libpcap and mine differ, and mine does the right thing.
It was installed back in late 2002:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 135878 Oct 21 2002 /usr/lib/libpcap.a
Anyway something is different, since the pppd (2.4.1, 2.4.2) filter
options work great here.
