by Buddhike Kurera
It is my great pleasure to inform you on behalf the Fedora Summer Coding
Group that the Fedora Project has been selected for the Google Summer of
Code 2013 program and Fedora project[1] will be featuring for the 8th time.
We have lot of expectations for this year program and do believe we could
earn some long term contributors towards the project.
As always it would be very interesting to work with young developers from
universities.
Students please keep eye on the mailing list …. And please do not hesitate
to contact mentors and getting familiar with the community. If required
contact me at any time.
Wish you Happy Summer Coding ….

GSoC Selected Organizations | Status
by Sarup Banskota
Hi all,
I have been looking at the melange page displaying the selected
organizations for a while now, but there seem to be a few more
organizations to add their entries.
I don't see Fedora on the list yet, did it make through this year? :)
Hoping for the best.
Thank you,
Sarup Banskota

GSoC Proposal Format | Dealing with images/mockups
by Sarup Banskota
Hi all,
I'm an undergrad from India, and was in the process of gathering resources
for GSoC. I have decided on a project under Fedora (assuming it gets
selected). In the #gsoc channel on freenode, I was told the proposal will
need to be submitted in the text format, unless melange makes some changes
this year.
However, I would like to include some images and mock-ups to support my
proposal. I read through several pages on past projects, and managed to dig
up this proposal[1]<http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GSOC_2012/Student_Application_Zuhao/IsItFed...>,
which seems to be in-line with what I want to do.
So, I wanted to know if while looking at applications, you refer to the
submissions students make on the Fedora wiki pages, or to the one submitted
through melange? I could of course add links to the text proposal, but then
I'm slightly apprehensive of adding too many links into the proposal as
they could get ignored.
Would love some help. :)
Thank you,
Sarup Banskota

Google Summer of Code-Introduction
by Avik Pal
Hello,
I'm Avik, 3rd yr (junior) bachelor CS student from Bengal Engineering &
Science University,Shibpur.
I went through the GSOC '13 ideas list and found the project *Fedora
Application for Fedora Robotics Suite* very interesting. I also would like
to say that I also fulfill all the necessary prerequisites given in the
project ideas page.
A little about myself(you may wanna skip this)
I have about 4 years of programming experience, I am the coordinator of the
Software Club in my University and help first and second year students with
Algorithms, I sometimes also take coding sessions here. My team qualified
for the ACM-ICPC 2012 Regionals(only team selected from my university in
that region). I also have over two years experience in robotics (have
worked with arduino and especially liked writing those PID codes!!).
I'm hoping to participate in GSoC since while I'm an avid open-source
enthusiast, I haven't had any chance in contributing to something this big
before and it's about time to fix that. You can find some of my toy projects
at https://github.com/avikpal
I have been going through the links given in your page and documentations
here and there, maybe you can help me with some useful resources so that
right away I can start contributing by fixing small bugs and in this way
sharpen my skills before GSOC actually starts.
I will be accessible by email and through IRC (nick avikp at freenode), but
since my time zone is UTC+5:30, I might not be accessible at all times.
