Comments/ Feedback on Students proposals
by Buddhike Kurera
Hello mentors and contributors,
We are getting good number of proposal submissions now. Since the
deadline is getting closer the number will keep
increasing I suppose. The deadline for proposal submission is 6th
April, 1900 UTC.
Though proposals are submitted via google-melange a copy of the
proposal is included on the wiki as well.
Therefore mentors can use google-melange to add their comments and
others can add comments on
the proposals talk page. Mentor also can post their comment on the
google-melange to the proposals talk page,
if they wish.
Your comments will help the students to make their proposals smarter.
Mentors can start giving scores on proposals. But I think it is better
to wait till you get all the proposals
for the idea and then start giving marks.
There is no hard rule and always we are open for ideas, so please feel
free to discuss any idea or concern.
Thanks for the support.

GSOC intoduction of my proposal
by Jørn Loamx
Good morning/evening all
I would just like to introduce myself. My name is Jørn Lomax, I'm 23 and a
second year CS student. I have applied to help with the Fedora audio spin
for GSOC. I have a degree in music and I regularly use different studio
software to play around with music. I would easily say music is
my biggest hobby, with programming coming a very close second. I have made
my application over at the offical application site and added myself to
this mailing list
As I'm applying *very* late, I haven't really had time to get to know
anyone involved with the projects. From what i have seen in the mailing
list archives, there has not been much talk of this idea. I would really
like to help with this project as I feel that there should be a studio
distro/spin that is FOSS and doesn't rely on any libraries that are
not compatible with the fedora philosophy. I also feel like I have some
ideas that would help it be a spin that is a cut above the other studio
centric distros out there.
I hope you will consider this proposal, despite it coming in at the
last minute and that I look forward to be able to work with you all :)
regards,
Jørn Lomax

GSOC 2012 Proposal: JBoss Fedora Spin
by Zack Garza
Hello, all -
I just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Zack, and I am hoping
to participate to GSOC this year by helping contribute to the Fedora
Project.
My proposal is based creating spins of Fedora based on using JBoss tools
and community packages for application development, which I've submitted it
over at Google Melange<http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/proposal/review/google/gsoc2012/dzack/1>
.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback or comments on it, as I would
really like to produce something the community will enjoy using. I am also
still currently looking for a mentor, and would welcome any guidance in
that respect.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hopefully working with you
all!

Public Comment for students - Proposal submissions on google-melange
by Buddhike Kurera
Dear Students,
Last night I have gone though some of the proposals submitted to google-melange
system. Some proposals look smart and some proposals are hard to read.
Here my concern is not the technical aspects but the formatting of the proposal.
Google-melange text editor provides enough facilities for you to make
your proposal
submission easy to read. You can bold, underline, italic, align,
indenting, bullets and more.
Please feel free to use them and make the submission more readable.
Just a copy and
past from the wiki make things hard to read.
Bare mind your submission on the google-melange is the main text that
mentor go through,
therefore presenting it nice would be an extra advantage you achieve.
If you are not already gone through the proposal writing section on
students-guide
please do refer to the following link,
http://en.flossmanuals.net/GSoCStudentGuide/ch008_writing-a-proposal/
If you need to insert an image/ diagram please cite it and provide the
link at the bottom. You
can use the fedora wiki to upload the image or any other public space
where anyone can access.
However I think it is good to use fedora infra such as fedora wiki as
much as possible.
If you need any clarification or more information or support, feel
free to reply this thread.
Looking forward to read some smart looking proposals.
Happy Summer Coding !!
