Why?
Because there is DNS serving exactly the same purpose. And since sssd is relying on DNS functionality anyway, it does not make any sense wasting the time with ipHosts.

Not a 100% necessary feature for our environment, but could be useful
for an IP mapping to important administration servers (monitoring,
puppet)...
