more_info for authz_provider?
by David O'Brien
This relates to ticket #196
"We are changing the configuration file format of the SSSD to something
more readable. The format is described at SSSDConfVer2"
SSSDConfVer2 contains
# Possible overrides
# id_provider = local
# auth_provider = local
# authz_provider = local
# passwd_provider = local
I'm assuming auth = authentication and authz = authorization
None of the other domain definitions provide or allow for an authz
override. This might be perfectly logical - if you're using an ldap back
end then authz occurs via ldap and that's all?
I'm also curious to know if this example file is still up to date. There
seems to be a limited use of proxy entries. Is the NIS example domain as
extensive as it might be?
thanks for any help and explanations.

questions about groups in sssd
by David O'Brien
1. No facility for renaming a group? e.g. groupmod -n <oldName> <newName>
2. No facility for creating multiple groups? (Actually in a separate
email with examples, but no replies yet)
3. No facility to remove a user from a group if that group membership is
by way of nested groups? I don't know if this is something that might be
required or useful, if it would be problematic or dangerous, I just
noticed that it failed:
[root@alice ~]# sss_usermod -r GroupB UserC
Could not modify user - user already member of groups?
I think that's all for now. Sending before VPN dies again :)

Logo draft for sssd
by Johannes von Bargen
Hi all!
I just made a quick draft for a sssd logo.
Please check it out and tell me what you think about it.
It is inspired by the current one, but a bit more "logo-ish".
Greetings from Hamburg
