Hi,
IMO don't dive in to the history of Linux.This is a boring topic. You may better introduce the Free/Opensource technologies and try to give them some real world examples of the latest features, packages and functionality of Linux. Most of the people still thinks that linux is only a character user interface,because they haven't seen much linuxers yet.
At least you can prepare some Screencast or Screenshots for this if you really can't give them a live demo. Anyway everything depends on the audiences that you willing to speak. I'm assuming that, this presentation is for some newcomers. Good Luck !
