spins in f19
by Kevin Fenzi
So, we had a fudcon session about spins, but it was merged with the
talk on Fedora Formulas and we didn't really decide anything about
spins.
Formulas aren't going to fully replace spins, and even if they do, they
likely won't be ready for f19 anyhow, so we need to figure out what we
do for f19 now.
a) what about the new spins that didn't get added in f18?
If their spin owners are actually active, they should chime in and
commit their ks to git and update the f19 spins page with their size
and so releng knows to produce them.
b) Any new spins need to SUBMIT THEIR KS FILES ASAP so we can avoid
problems where things don't make it.
c) There's no meetings, Christoph is swamped, how do we want to handle
the day to day business of the sig?
I was thinking we should require at each freeze point that any spins we
promote on spins.fedoraproject.org have at least 2 people sign off that
they tested them and they basically work. If 0 people do this sign off,
we should still produce them, but they sit in alt and don't get
promoted anywhere. If a spin doesn't get any testing for an entire
cycle, we drop them completely.
Thoughts? counter proposals?

Re: [Fedora-spins] polkit changes in f19

On Thu, Jan 31, 2013 at 6:57 PM, Matthias Clasen <mclasen(a)redhat.com> wrote:
> I just realized that there is a change to the way polkit is packaged in f19 that spin maintainers should be aware of: the polkit package is just the service, which only provides the default policy as specified in the action definitions now. If you want or need support for js rules, you need to pull in the polkit-js-engine package. I've just made this change for the desktop spin.
It would probably have been useful if you'd emailed the spins list
about there changes.
Also is there any documentation as to why we'd need the
polkit-js-engine what functionality it provides, and more importantly
what we'd lose by not including it?

Login screen issue
by Luya Tshimbalanga
Login screen issue happened after I built design suite iso (currently
1.2GB without LibreOffice) for testing purpose. After pressing enter to
authenticate, the session will return to the login
screen. I looked at the design ks file from git master and it appears
the bugs is from either fedora-live-base or fedora-live-base ks. It is
very similar to the issue reported by an user for F18 design spin.
I also successfully reproduced the same issue after rebuilding the Live
Desktop spin locally.

comps.xml entry for audio related packages
by Brendan Jones
Hi,
we are considering submitting a change request to add the "core" audio
packages for inclusion in the comps file. Other distributions have a
Multimedia group, but I was thinking we should have one which is only
audio related.
I'm unsure what to call this group - the spin is Fedora Jam, but I was
thinking we should just opt for "Audio" as the name. However, there is
also the use case for multimedia which could pull in the video side of
things as well as Audio.
What do people think? We will probably look at including these packages
as a base, however I'd recommend removing some of the soundfonts as they
are quite large [1]. Should we be looking to cull it further?
OTOH, we could just call the group "Fedora Jam" and leave as is, but I
worry that the name is not intuitive at install time. Should we submit
multiple groups (ie Audio and /Fedora Jam)
regards,
Brendan

Adding spins-kickstart permission issue.
by Luya Tshimbalanga
Following the instruction from the wiki[1], I hit a permission denial below:
$ scp spin-kickstarts-*.tar.gz fedorahosted.org:spin-kickstarts
The authenticity of host 'fedorahosted.org (66.135.62.201)' can't be
established.
RSA key fingerprint is e6:b3:68:51:98:2d:4c:dc:63:27:46:65:51:d5:f0:7a.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
Warning: Permanently added 'fedorahosted.org' (RSA) to the list of known
hosts.
scp:
/srv/web/releases/s/p/spin-kickstarts//spin-kickstarts-0.19.1.tar.gz:
Permission denied
I think I cannot add the tarball due to lack of permission. I am still
learning how to build a livemedia through koji.
