MIA spins
by Paul W. Frields
Despite a posting to the lists earlier in the month[1] to check our
spin content, apparently no one caught the fact that there was no
Moblin spin among the release candidates. At this point, we're going
to have to wait for mirrors to die down before we can consider
shipping a late copy.
I went to the Spins process page[2] to see where things might have gone
off track, and found that the page stated that after acceptance the
following step occurs:
"Spin added to a wiki page containing a table listing all of the spins
for Fedora X (very similar to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/11/FeatureList)"
Note that no one is responsible or accountable for it happening
according to the spin page, nor is the proper page listed. I made
a change, so now the step reads:
"The Spins Wrangler adds the Spin to a wiki page containing a table
listing all of the spins for Fedora 14
(https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/14/Spins)"
This change is not a decree by any means, but it seemed like the most
effective way to ensure entries get made.
I can't help but think we would have caught this problem if there were
regular Spins meetings, or at least schedule items that indicate the
SIG should carry out a task like checking the list of Spins before RC
phase. Earlier, I brought up the idea of entering a set of schedule
items. Ideally, someone on the SIG will step up to gather that list
of dates for Fedora 14, and talk to John Poelstra to make sure the
dates get on the release schedule. I'd also like to make sure we have
a clear spins wrangler who knows the responsibilities that come with
that role. That person should check over the spins process page[2]
and find any places where it's not clear what the task is, and who is
responsible for doing it.
So -- who wants to gather the schedule and report it to John Poelstra
by around June 1?
Who is the current spins wrangler, and can that person go over the
page by around the same time, and bring questions to the list?

Hello there
by Chris Jones
I am new to the project. I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is
Chris Jones (as you've probably already noticed). I've been using
Linux for many years now and in particular Ubuntu and Fedora. My job
as a Photographic Imaging Professional and Graphic Designer obviously
involves me with lots of digital imaging software applications. I use
both Windows and Linux platforms and many software titles on both. I
dabbled with the idea of getting involved in the development of Ubuntu
Studio but the lack of insight into the "Graphic" side of it put me
off. It's marketed as a suite for graphic, audio and video
enthusiasts, but the developers simply don't wish to develop the
graphic side of it anymore than what is current and wish to focus on
the audio/video side. When the opportunity came around to jump on
board with the Fedora Design Suite, I took it.
I hope that I can bring something worthy to the project.
Regards

Co-maintaining the Design Suite
by Pierros Papadeas
Hi all
My name is Pierros Papadeas [1]. Some of you might know me from the
Ambassadors' Project and from the L10n Project. Moreover I am studying
Architecture so I have great interest in Design tools and Graphics
Software.
I am happy to announce that I am willing to take over the maintaining
of the Design Suite [2] from Sebastian [3] (due to his lack of time).
Sebastian was kind enough to offer me any help and advise needed to
complete this task and stand on my own.
I am in contact with him to make sure I have all the knowledge needed.
I am very excited about this and want to thank Sebastian for this opportunity :)
So.. see ya around!

spins trac use
by Bruno Wolff III
At today's spins meeting we discussed using trac for keeping track of some
of our issues.
I checked and spin-kickstarts does have a trac instance and it got a bit
of use in the past, but nothing very recently.
I'll note something about this on the spins page.

No special live images for F14 alpha/beta
by Bruno Wolff III
We (spins sig) think that the costs of doing separate frozen live images
for the alpha and beta doesn't provide much benefit in addition to the
nightly composes and do not want to do special images again (we ended
up not doing them without a lot of discussion for F13) for F14.
