Spin for DF-Day

I was quite unaware of this list.
Anyway...
Document Freedom Day is on 25th March.
~300+ teams all over world will be participating. I proposed a custom
Fedora spin for the day (for all teams)
in the DF-day mailing list and some people have shown interest.
Basically it should include
1. Mainly destop oriented packages (updated stable Fedora10)
2. All Open Office stuff with good collection of templates, Dictonaries
3. Scribus, GIMP, Koffice, Gnumeric, Docbook, Lua, Quanta etc (latest stable)
4. TexLive and IDEs
5. Lots of Advocacy related documentation + Whitepapers, Technical =
A Folder + html page
reports, Tutorials etc (for DF-Day): = A Folder + html page
It may be a matter of adding a Folder + html page + some custom
artwork (from DF-Day people) + wallpaper(s) (from DF-Day people) + a
few small customisations to an existing custom spin.
(This year the document freedom day people announced the day in the
last week of Feb and so I could not come with this earlier. The whole
spin creation process seems to be a long one.)
Please suggest a suitable spin and ...how should I proceed?

Excluding *.i?86 on x86_64 images
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
Hi,
As you can see on http://www.kanarip.com/revisor/, a lot of x86_64 spins
fail composing against rawhide because of file-level conflicts between a
.i?86 and a .x86_64 package.
For the Fedora 9 & 10 respins (also on that page), I resolved this by
excluding all .i?86 packages from the YUM repositories (through
Revisor's YUM configuration file used for each spin respectively). As a
side-effect of removing *.i?86, the size of the spins also decreased a
little.
If I do the same for rawhide spins, the compose process I use for these
daily spins stops reflecting what happens during the "official" composes
by the Fedora Project. There's a subtle difference in these two
processes already, but at least now we can be sure that if Revisor
errors out, so would livecd-tools.
What do you think? Should I exclude all .i?86 packages on x86_64 spins?
If we do, can we make sure this happens during the official composes as
well -without forcing Release Engineering to use revisor-cli instead of
livecd-tools?
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen

Daily respins
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
For your information, I'm creating daily respins since I find that:
1) spins do not compose against rawhide most of the time
2) current releases:
2a) are oversized
2b) fail composing because of dependency errors
In the case of 1), these daily composes that I do are an indicator of
what might be the actual cause, and in the case of 2{a,b}), these daily
composes tell us where to look.
I think it's very important to note that although the Fedora Project
itself doesn't use the kickstarts associated with a current version of
Fedora, people do -and expect a spin that composes, at least.
Some of the trouble is caused by failing dependencies which can also
happen on any installed system doing a 'yum update'.
Visit http://www.kanarip.com/revisor/ for actual output.
Let me know how you think we can further improve on this.
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen

PS. For access to the .iso and .torrent files, you need to authenticate
because this stuff is all untested and not public.

F-11-Beta branch created
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
The F-11-Beta branch has been created.
This means, that commits that go onto the master branch need to be
reviewed before they are cherry-picked onto the F-11-Beta branch.
Please submit the exact commit code you want to see cherry-picked in a
ticket on http://fedorahosted.org/spin-kickstarts

Hey Chitlesh,
your page still isn't in the right Category or review queue... Get it
updated and reviewed by John Poelstra before the Feature Freeze, and
notify the Spins SIG every step of the way so they can take FEL for a
quick vote, before it's too late.
Summary: The page has to be updated and pass two (!) review queues
before the Feature Freeze tomorrow (!).

[spin-kickstarts] #18: fedora-livedvd-developer.ks fails to compose

#18: fedora-livedvd-developer.ks fails to compose

fedora-livedvd-developer.ks contains sysprof, which has been removed from
Fedora to Livna because it needs a kernel module. Due to this the spin
fails to compose.
The attached patch fixes this issue.

Since this spin was in already in Fedora 10, and has had major attention
drawn to it -and thus Fedora- ever since it was first released with
Fedora 8 (iirc), I'm willing to make an exemption to the Feature Freeze
last night and give it a late +1.
Can I get some other votes please?

Games Spin at today's board meeting?
by Bruno Wolff III
I wasn't able to attend today's board meeting and wanted to make sure the
Games Spin came up since it is incorrectly still listed in the
Spins Ready for SIG category instead of Spins Ready for Board category.
Were any of you able to attend the meeting?
I looked for the IRC log, but it hasn't been posted yet.
