Please note that support for manpage compression is already present in scl-utils, using
redefined %__os_install_post [1] with adjusted brp-scl-compress [2].

That's fine, but it isn't in the scl-utils on EPEL5, and this is really
just a hack. The SCL packages for perl 5.8.0 and perl 5.8.8 I have been
building are just for us to migrate some applications off ancient
systems and then onto a more recent version of perl than is provided by
RHEL[56] (probably 5.16). We will most probably be decoupling our
applications from the system perl and using our own collections.
