Hi,
I am slowly creating a list of server packages (or application) that can be installed without any interference with desktop libraries or other stuff. The procedure is simple - run "yum install <foo>" in a minimal installation and see what happens :-) Theoretical way would be to check the dependency graphs for packages, but own experience is more interesting.
URL for the list is https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Sharkcz/ServersOverview

We should define the exact border of what's server and what's desktop (at least from FedoraServer perspective). I suppose that everything what runs on top of X is clear. But what about the rest? Dbus, hal, avahi, *Kits and others... The oldschool servers were definitely able to run without them, but are we able to draw a line here and really split server not to use these packages?

I think it would be a worthwhile effort to make sure we're not drawing in desktop-y components upon the install of dbus and *Kits. If they are, i don't think it is crazy to see about splitting those packages up more.
