I have begun to put together all the packages that Fedora Scientific Spin ships with here [1]. Kindly let me know if you see any stark omissions.

I recommend including Mercurial as well.
Also, can we decide and ship Eclipse as mandatory and NetBeans as optional (or otherwise)? Shipping both is a bit too much IMHO.

As you would guess, the camps are divided. And we actually a have a lot to fill in before we reach a DVD size ISO. :-)
So, I will keep them both as of now.
