To clarify a little...the scap-workbench project depends on openscap to provide SCAP
services. Our primary platform is Linux. However, the code is written to be compiled
on other platforms. All that is needed is to write the probes for OVAL. There are
people working on porting openscap to solaris and some work has even been done on
freebsd. However, no one has helped write the probes for Windows. We can show how to
do it, but we are not actively doing it. Without the OVAL probes, openscap can parse
and use OVAL results from another scanner on the windows platform. We know that
openscap compiles on windows and give instructions here:

We just need someone to contribute probes and then the bottom layer would work.
