Another update. This time I successfully build Ruby 2.0-r35922. Please
see the ruby-2.0 branch if you like to experiment.

I just update the ruby-2.0 branch in Ruby's dist-git repo. ATM, it
successfully builds trunk at revision 35368. Whats better, you don't
need to repack the tarball as I mentioned in my previous email. So now
just prepare the upstream snapshot, update the revision variable in
.spec file and you can immediately build and test.
