As I understand it, critical path generation should work like this:
{{{
* Lists are generated at rawhide, branched, or updates compose time
* These lists are synced into pkgdb for that branch
* bodhi then reads these from pkgdb
}}}
Where are we currently? For the first item, we only generate critpath
during rawhide/branched compose.

I assume the createrepo instance that generates the Fedora 9 updates-
newkey/updates-testing-newkey is the RHEL-5 version?
Can we change this to be the Fedora 9 version so that we'll get group_gz
as well as group (ie. comps.xml.gz as well as comps.xml). This makes for
much less data to download, to get group information.

It seems there is an issue as I (and others users) don't receive any
commit message for php changes in git.
I receive commit message for all the others packages.

When I requested it I was assuming that redland, a dependency, actually
existed in epel-5.
Turns out it doesn't. So please delete that particular branch.

Each cycle Matt Domsch runs a mass rebuild against all fedora packages:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FTBFS
Those that fail to build from source have bugs filed on them to be fixed.
After the Alpha we should orphan all packages that have FTBFS bugs that
are in "NEW" state (ie, not looked at by the maintainer). This would give
other folks a chance to pick up the package and fix it so it builds. In
the event that the package is not taken over or fixed, it would be dropped
at the same time as all the other orphans are dropped.
Timing for this should be determined and added to the rel-eng calendar and
list of tasks as well as a SOP written up to handle how to do this.

RFC: Fedora Spin for Scientific Research
by Amit Saha
Hello!
As an effort to avoid installing the same packages (like latex, emacs,
gnuplot..) everytime I do a fresh install of a Linux distro, I decided
to create a Fedora spin to cater the users who use Linux as their main
workstation to help them in their research.
The software tools used is very much subjective, being determined by the
field of research one is in. So, at this point here are some of the
packages that is there in my spin (These have been mostly determined by
my own field of research which is numerical simulation driven):
<packages>
#Languages, Libraries and tools
gcc
gsl
gsl-devel
boost
octave
scipy
python-matplotlib
#writing and plotting
texmaker # will install tex-live and associated utils
gnuplot
emacs
emacs-color-theme
nano
vim
</packages>
and some other misc. utils. These packages are added to the default
Fedora 15 desktop packages i.e. with GNOME 3. As of now the ISO size is
1.1G and takes ~4G in the Live environment.
I see from [1] that a Fedora "Spin for Science" is in the Ideas section.
It would be great to get your feedback on this project. I would like to
work towards its acceptance/validation as pointed out
in [2] -- by adding extra packages and anything else.
Any thoughts/comments/suggestions appreciated.

Amit
