Hi!
I am computer science teaching assistant in University of Tartu, Estonia.
Over the last few years I've developed a nice tool for teaching (Python) programming
to the beginners -- Thonny IDE (
http://thonny.org). Its main strength is its program
run-time visualization capabilities (see the homepage for screenshots and a video). Thonny
is growing in popularity (I'm proud that Raspberry Pi education team has chosen it to
be Raspberry's default Python IDE), but it's not in the Fedora repository yet.
I've prepared and tweaked the package with the help from Ben Rosser
(
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1503175). Here are the results:
*
https://bitbucket.org/plas/thonny-rpm/downloads/thonny.spec
*
https://bitbucket.org/plas/thonny-rpm/downloads/thonny-2.1.15-1.fc26.src.rpm
*
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/aivarannamaa/thonny/monitor/
I'm ready to take care of the package for long time and I'm hoping that someone
in this team is willing to sponsor it.
Welcome!
Thony looks quite useful. I'm sure we can find a sponsor.
The first thing to do, though, is to open request on Bugzilla [0] with
your package. All the automation expects that, so e-mail is not enough.
The whole process is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_package_collection_maintainers
Let me know if there's anything I can help with!
