Jeremy,

Unfortunately, the test X CD failed on my PowerMac G4 with an I/O error from mini-wm.

PowerMac 3,3 (65, PowerMac G4 AGP Graphics)

Probing for video card: ATI Radeon 9200
Probing for monitor type: StudioDsply1
Probing for mouse type: Generic - 3 button mouse (PS/2)
Attempting to start native X server
Waiting for X server to start ... log located in /tmp/x.log
1...2...3...4...5 X server started successfully
mini-wm: Fatal IO Error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server :1.0.

It might be helpful to note that the Radeon 9200 is a PCI card.  There is no card in the AGP slot.  During boot, I get the message

PCI: Cannot allocate resource region 1 of device 0001:11:02.0

which is the PCI address of the Radeon 9200.  However, the message does not stop the boot process.

Ubuntu works (with X on a nearly identical machine with the same card).  It also give the "Cannot allocate resource region 1 message).

Fedora Core release 3.9.2 (Pre-FC4)/kernel 2.6.11-1.1286_FC4, which I am currently running on the machine, fails with the same message as the X CD.

Previously, I had been running FC3 and the installation process correctly put up X graphics, but on reboot the X server failed.  I moved off of FC3 explicitly to get LVM2 but was sad to find that one gets a  message saying you cannot configure logical volumes without a graphics interface!  A long way of saying I am REALLY looking forward to having a working X on FC4 with the Radeon card.

Best of luck with your work!

BTW, I has not filed a bugzilla report against FC4 with the mini-wm message.  Should I do that (assuming I don't find one already filed) or are you fielding the most recent problems via this forum?
