Just tried the this kernel, I can't get it to sleep. Nothing happens when closing the lid, pressing the power button don't do anything either.

What is up with kernels after 2.6.8. The fans starts a short time after booting and just keeps spinning. With kernel 2.6.8 they hardly spin at all.

This is it updated to 2.6.10. I wasn't paying much attention -- mostly
just clicking on the pretty BK merge tool :)

But it survives booting and a couple of suspend/resume cycles on my
shinybook so it seems OK. Fedora Core 3 RPMS as before in the yum repo
