fedora test 3 powermac g5
by Bobby
hi,
i just purchased a powermac g5 from the apple store. it's a dual
processor 2ghz that went for two thousand dollars. When I put the mac64
boot iso from test3 it hangs when i try to load the installer right
after the detection of the mouse. is there something i should do before
installing? i have already made a free partition.
thank you

5/22/05 Rawhide http install
by Michael A. Peters
Ruby Summer 2000 iMac w/ DVD drive
attempt to install via http was going extremely well, except the mac
decided to reboot about 65% of the way through.
I don't know if this is an installer bug or if dirty power or something
had a play at it.
No UPS but other computers on same circuit w/o ups did not reboot,
though they are on different surge protectors.
Trying again this time with a minimal install (will yum groupinstall
what I want) - I suspect it was a not clean power issue, but I thought
I'd report it in case others have seen the same thing.

Fwd: fedora on a mac

Thank you for the quick response, but I am still having a few
problems. Regarding the SELinux is it a bad thing to have on?

it is FC 4 test 3.92 and SELinux is enabled.
I don't think I'm using LVM, but I'm not sure.

I tried doing this but I got the waring that I was trying to edit a
read only file. I was unable to override this with w! or wq!.
thanks again for your help

FC4 PPC v Intel
by Sergio fernandez
Hi all.
Just reading the article on installing FC4 on a mac mini and I am
looking forward to giving it a try but I was wondering what sort of
speeds do you get with the basic model. Would it compare to a P4 2Ghzs
machine.
Cheers

no mouse during FC4 test3 installation
by William Kwan
Hi all,
I just put FC4 test 3 on a Powerbook 12" 1.5GHz model. During
installation and after the first boot up, the trackpad doesn;t work.
Plug in an USB mouse and it works. Any pointers on how can I get the
trackpad works?
Thanks in advance

Re: PPC and RS/6000 (PReP)

Maybe. There isn't a lot which prevents the kernel from working --
CONFIG_ISA being a large part of it. I'm not sure how far people got
with that kernel.

The image directories are somewhat misnamed. We have only two images --
the 64-bit kernel which runs on pSeries and Mac G5, and the 32-bit
kernel which runs on 32-bit Macs (and might work on 32-bit PReP/CHRP
too).
We have 3 CDs -- the 64-bit kernel on a CHRP-bootable CD for pSeries,
the 64-bit kernel on a Mac-bootable CD for G5s, and the 32-bit kernel on
a Mac-bootable CD. These can theoretically be condensed into a single
CD. For now, you'll have to netboot the RS/6000 from the images, if it's
going to work.
Since you're running Linux already, the best thing you can do is test
the current rawhide kernel. If it doesn't work, it's probably due to
configuration options which are missing; make it work and tell me which
they were.
If you join #fedora-ppc on irc.freenode.net, we can discuss it in more
detail there.

Please help me - fedora on MAc G5 running only with Tiger
by Nikolay Nikolaev
Hi to all,
I have a desire to install fedora to G5, which is brand new and only
Tiger 10.4 is possible
to run on it (panther not 10.3 due to new hardware installed there).
Does any one think that will be possible to install and to work with
fedora here?
How to make partiition and how to install.
If some one can tell me what to do I will be very thankfull. At the
moment I have experience only with MS Windows.
