Summary: Please build latest perl-Math-BigInt-GMP for EPEL 4 and 5
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=504256
Summary: Please build latest perl-Math-BigInt-GMP for EPEL 4 and 5 Product: Fedora Version: rawhide Platform: All OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: medium Priority: low Component: perl-Math-BigInt-GMP AssignedTo: steve@silug.org ReportedBy: redhat-bugzilla@linuxnetz.de QAContact: extras-qa@fedoraproject.org CC: steve@silug.org, fedora-perl-devel-list@redhat.com, scheck@etes.de Classification: Fedora
Description of problem: Please build latest perl-Math-BigInt-GMP for EPEL 4 and 5. As the %check section doesn't work on EPEL 4 and 5, I'm suggesting the following block to use instead:
%if 0%{?fedora}%{?rhel} > 5 %check make test %endif
And the %{fixperm} thing maybe doesn't exist on EPEL 4 as well, there could be chmod -R u+w $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/* get necessary.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): perl-Math-BigInt-GMP-1.24-1
Additional info: Please let me know, if you just don't want to be the maintainer for the perl-Math-BigInt-GMP EPEL packages...

--- Comment #1 from Paul Howarth paul@city-fan.org 2009-06-05 04:37:00 EDT --- Math::BigInt::GMP requires Math::BigInt >= 1.87, which is not available in either EL-4 or EL-5. Since it's also a core module bundled with the main perl package, there's not much chance of that changing either.
I suspect that's why the test suite fails too.
%{_fixperms} works all the way back to Red Hat Linux 7 and maybe further (I don't have anything older to hand at the moment).

--- Comment #2 from Robert Scheck redhat-bugzilla@linuxnetz.de 2009-06-05 05:43:16 EDT --- Even it requires Math::BigInt >= 1.87 for some of the functionalities, it works for most of them with older Math::BigInt and gets down the 10 seconds from Net::SSH::Perl when using without Math::BigInt::GMP to ~ 1.5 seconds. So there's definately an improvement and a reason to have that package at EPEL. Regarding %{_fixperms}, that's possible, I didn't investigate into this.
