Summary: CVE-2026-88816 perl-DBI: perl-DBI: Denial of Service
via numeric FetchHashKeyName attribute [fedora-all]
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Status: NEW

Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
Disclaimer: Community trackers are created by Red Hat Product Security team on
a best effort basis. Package maintainers are required to ascertain if the flaw
indeed affects their package, before starting the update process.
DBI versions before 1.654 for Perl incorrectly treat numeric values as strings
in FetchHashKeyName.
fetchrow_hashref uses the string pointer of the FetchHashKeyName attribute as
the key name without stringifying it first. When FetchHashKeyName has been set
to an integer (IV) or floating-point (NV) value, that pointer is invalid, so
reading the key name triggers a segmentation fault.
This can be triggered with the following code:
my $dbh = DBI->connect( "dbi:ExampleP:", "", "",
{ RaiseError => 0, PrintError => 0 } );
$dbh->{FetchHashKeyName} = 42;
my $sth = $dbh->prepare("select mode, size, name from .");
$sth->execute;
$sth->fetchrow_hashref;

indeed affects their package, before starting the update process.
DBI versions before 1.654 for Perl incorrectly treat numeric values as strings
in sql_type_cast_svpv.
When casting to SQL_NUMERIC, sql_type_cast_svpv passes the string pointer and
length of the SV to grok_number without stringifying it first. An integer (IV)
or floating-point (NV) value has no valid string pointer, so grok_number reads
from an invalid address, triggering a segmentation fault.
This is reachable in Perl using the sql_type_cast function:
my $num = 42;
DBI::sql_type_cast( $num, DBI::SQL_NUMERIC, 0 );

perl-Mixin-ExtraFields-0.140003-10.fc46 fails to build in Fedora 46 because
some tests fail like this:
# Failed test 'use Object::HasExtraFields;'
# at t/basic.t line 15.
# Tried to use 'Object::HasExtraFields'.
# Error: Undefined subroutine &Params::Util::_INSTANCE called at

A difference between passing and failing build root is at
<https://koschei.fedoraproject.org/build/24010016>. A replacement of
Params::Util with Params::SomeUtil in perl-Sub-Exporter-0.992 and
perl-Data-OptList-0.115 is the probable trigger.

Bug ID: 2537126
Summary: pod2man uses obsolete fixed-font, causing troff
warnings
Product: Fedora
Version: 43
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Component: perl-podlators
Severity: low
Assignee: jplesnik(a)redhat.com
Reporter: tim(a)tim-landscheidt.de
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: jplesnik(a)redhat.com, mspacek(a)redhat.com,
perl-devel(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, ppisar(a)redhat.com
Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
With perl-podlators-6.0.2-520.fc43.noarch, pod2man's own man page and any man
page it generates uses the font "CW" as fixed-font. With groff 1.24.0, this
font is no longer recognized, thus causing troff warnings "cannot select font
'CW'":
| $ man pod2man > /dev/null
| troff:<standard input>:91: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| troff:<standard input>:96: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| troff:<standard input>:98: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| […]
| troff:<standard input>:402: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| troff:<standard input>:403: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| troff:<standard input>:420: warning: cannot select font 'CW'
| $
This bug (https://github.com/rra/podlators/issues/43) has been fixed upstream
in podlators 6.1.0 by switching the default fixed-font to "CR"
(https://github.com/rra/podlators/commit/e099fdf3fa07014e3df6a476242e2484b57…)
It would be nice if this patch could be backported to Fedora 43ff.
Alternatively, this can be fixed in individual packages by amending the make
variable POD2MAN, for example in the case of perl-podlators:
| %build
| perl Makefile.PL INSTALLDIRS=vendor NO_PACKLIST=1 NO_PERLLOCAL=1
| -%{make_build}
| +%{make_build} POD2MAN='$(POD2MAN_EXE) --fixed=CR'
Reproducible: Always

If you do not wish to maintain perl-Class-DBI in epel10,
or do not think you will be able to do this in a timely manner,
I would be happy to be a co-maintainer of the package (FAS pghmcfc);
