Summary: perl-Class-MOP should be retired
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: Unspecified
OS/Version: Unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: unspecified
Priority: unspecified
Component: perl-Class-MOP
AssignedTo: cweyl(a)alumni.drew.edu

Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Description of problem:
With the release of Moose 2.0000, upstream has merged Class::MOP into the Moose
distribution. There will be no more separate Class-MOP. Since I've just updated
our perl-Moose package to 2.0000, perl-Class-MOP should be retired and blocked
in rawhide.

Steve,
please respond to bug #611015.
perl-Pugs-Compiler-Rule fails to build under perl 5.12. It should either be
fixed
or retired. According to rel-eng, perl-sig and perl maintainer can't initiate
EOL for these packages[1].
There have also been automatic broken dependency mails for several weeks
already.

News from rebuild
by Marcela Mašláňová
Hello list,
you might wonder why rebuild take so long. I'm using for rebuild
Fedora::Rebuild module, which is still under development. List of
packages for rebuild is based on requirements of each package. Also it
should be possible to build more packages in parallel.
There were some flaws, but I had major problems with our
infrastructure. I run into limitation of git and koji. I'm not sure
whether this is simply not possible or it's only setting of infrastructure.
You can run into these bugs of mock in koji:
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/4791 -> missing requirements
doesn't stop build
https://fedorahosted.org/rel-eng/ticket/4786 -> current mock doesn't
work with tty tests, so I had to switch them off. I'll revert it after
update of mock in koji.
At the moment 1061 packages are done. So ~700 to go.
Another thing are filters. I suppose it isn't in Guidelines yet, but old
filters doesn't work, because they do not have support in rpm. You can
use something like this before prep section in your specfile.
%{?perl_default_filter}
%global __provides_exclude
%{?__provides_exclude}|perl\\(XML::SAX::PurePerl\\)
%global __requires_exclude
%{?__requires_exclude}|perl\\(XML::SAX::PurePerl::DTDDecls\\)
I believe next automatic rebuild will be faster, so please be patient.
Regards,
Marcela

[Bug 730658] New: Unbundle DateTime::Locale and DateTime::TimeZone

Story Points: ---
Type: ---
Our perl-DateTime package bundles DateTime::Locale and DateTime::TimeZone. To
simplify maintenance, I would like to unbundle them and maintain them as
separate packages. (DateTime::TimeZone gets updated fairly frequently, but it's
not possible to get automatic notifications from Upstream Release Monitoring,
for example). It's also worth noting that neither suse nor debian bundle these
modules.
The original rationale for bundling was due to circular (build) dependencies.
This no longer applies for DateTime::Locale (DateTime::Locale does not require
DateTime). For DateTime::TimeZone, the circular dependencies can temporarily be
avoided using perl_bootstrap macro and appropriate filtering.
I've filed bug 730656 and bug 730657 for review of new perl-DateTime-Locale and
perl-DateTime-TimeZone packages.
