spec patch
arch-specific perl-* packages often have library provides picked up and exposed
vi rpm's autoprov system, where it shouldn't; that is, these provides are
useless, not in the system lib path, and will never be used for proper perl
dependency resolution. e.g. perl-YAML-Syck.i386 provides Syck.so(), mod_perl
provides a slew of them, etc.
These macros will allow us to sensibly filter useless provides out:
http://fedorapeople.org/~cweyl/macros.perl
The core perl package should deliver /etc/rpm/macros.perl, as above, and employ
them to clean up its errant provides. I've attached a patch that does that, as
well as the additional %SOURCEs needed; a scratch build of the modifications
has been run.
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1375064
Thanks! :)

Please update the perl spec template to conditionally invoke the default perl
filtering macro, by inserting "%{?perl_default_filter} before %description.

patch to fix reference counting bug in XML::LibXSLT 1.68
XML::LibXSLT has a reference counting bug that leads to segfaults. There is an
upstream bug report with no action, so I'm attaching a patch which fixes the
bug.

The patch is for 1.68 since it's in f10 testing, but the bug is also present in
1.66.

and at the same time trying to find a decision on whether to mark cpan2rpm dead
in favour of cpanspec?
[...]
Bug 280991 (cpan2rpm misses dependency on ExtUtils::MakeMaker) was filed on
2007-09-06 for Fedora 7 and is still unfixed. No comment from package owner
Gavin Henry.
Bug 462832 (cpan2rpm doesn't work with latest Pod::Text) was filed on
2008-09-19 for Fedora 9, is related, and is still unfixed. No comment from
package owner Gavin Henry.
[...]
Package doesn't have any official Fedora co-maintainers listed.
perl-sig is subscribed to watchbugzilla/watchcommits only.
Upstream has not done a release since June 2005 and has not answered to the
upstream PR for bug 462823 that was filed in May 2007.
In both bz tickets it has been suggested (and also to me privately) to use
cpanspec instead.

Hi,
A collegue of mine needs perl-Net-Jabber for EPEL. It depends on perl-Net-XMPP,
which depends on perl-XML-Stream which are not available in EPEL either. You
are the owner of all of them in Fedora. Would you mind either maintaining them
in EPEL, or allow me to take ownership of them for the EPEL branches, at your
convenience ? The current F10 SRPMS are rebuilding fine on EL-5.
Regards,
Xavier

[Bug 458521] New: Be clamav (and other virus scanners) friendly
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug.
Summary: Be clamav (and other virus scanners) friendly
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=458521
Summary: Be clamav (and other virus scanners) friendly
Product: Fedora
Version: 9
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: low
Priority: medium
Component: amavisd-new
AssignedTo: steve(a)silug.org
ReportedBy: kim+rh(a)alleroedderne.adsl.dk
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: fedora-perl-devel-list(a)redhat.com
Estimated Hours: 0.0
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
Clamd cannot read the files it is asked to scan, if it is run as the user
clamav, even though it is a member of the amavis group
How reproducible:
Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install clamav and amavisd-new
2. Add clamav user to amavis group
3. Scan some mails
Actual results:
Aug 8 14:52:47 jukebox amavis[25410]: (25410-12) (!!)ask_av (ClamAV-clamd)
FAILED - unexpected result:
/var/spool/amavisd/tmp/amavis-20080808T135109-25410/parts: lstat() failed.
ERROR\n
Additional info:
The two directories /var/spool/amavisd /var/spool/amavisd/tmp needs to be group
readable/executable (workaround: chmod g+rx /var/spool/amavisd
/var/spool/amavisd/tmp)
It is possible to run clamav as amavisd user but then you do not get the
security of using different users (and you need to change some other dirs. to
be owned by amavis user).
