Wouldn't the initfiles have to be installed somewhere? And in that
case if we cater early enough we simply ship F8 with a new _initdir
value pointing to the new preferred value.
In that case it will be easier for everyone if the old macro points to
the legacy init & the new to the new one, instead of muddying the waters
with a premature change
