Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2007-0787

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : zabbix
Product : Fedora 7
Version : 1.4
Release : 3.fc7
Summary : Open-source monitoring solution for your IT infrastructure
Description :
ZABBIX is software that monitors numerous parameters of a
network and the health and integrity of servers. ZABBIX
uses a flexible notification mechanism that allows users
to configure e-mail based alerts for virtually any event.
This allows a fast reaction to server problems. ZABBIX
offers excellent reporting and data visualisation features
based on the stored data. This makes ZABBIX ideal for
capacity planning.
ZABBIX supports both polling and trapping. All ZABBIX
reports and statistics, as well as configuration
parameters are accessed through a web-based front end. A
web-based front end ensures that the status of your network
and the health of your servers can be assessed from any
location. Properly configured, ZABBIX can play an important
role in monitoring IT infrastructure. This is equally true
for small organisations with a few servers and for large
companies with a multitude of servers.

Fedora 7 Update: syslog-ng-2.0.4-4.fc7
by updates@fedoraproject.org
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2007-0302
2007-07-02 09:08:28.990146
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : syslog-ng
Product : Fedora 7
Version : 2.0.4
Release : 4.fc7
Summary : Syslog replacement daemon
Description :
syslog-ng, as the name shows, is a syslogd replacement, but with new
functionality for the new generation. The original syslogd allows
messages only to be sorted based on priority/facility pairs; syslog-ng
adds the possibility to filter based on message contents using regular
expressions. The new configuration scheme is intuitive and powerful.
Forwarding logs over TCP and remembering all forwarding hops makes it
ideal for firewalled environments.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
The following change will most likely break a lot
of logging configurations.
Extract of the upstream NEWS file
---------------------------------
2.0.4 Mon, 14 May 2007 11:47:48 +0200
IMPORTANT NOTES:
* This version of syslog-ng fixes a bug in enforcing the max-connections() limit for various stream-like sources (unix-stream and tcp). Previously this limit was not enforced, thus production environments may use an inadequate value.
Validate your max-connection() settings before upgrading and check your logs for rejected connections.

[SECURITY] Fedora Core 6 Update: perl-Net-DNS-0.60-1.fc6
by Robin Norwood
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2007-609
2007-07-02
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 6
Name : perl-Net-DNS
Version : 0.60
Release : 1.fc6
Summary : DNS resolver modules for Perl
Description :
Net::DNS is a collection of Perl modules that act as a Domain Name
System (DNS) resolver. It allows the programmer to perform DNS queries
that are beyond the capabilities of gethostbyname and gethostbyaddr.
The programmer should be somewhat familiar with the format of a DNS
packet and its various sections. See RFC 1035 or DNS and BIND (Albitz
& Liu) for details.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
This brings FC-6 up to date with the latest changes to
Net::DNS. See the project page here:
http://search.cpan.org/~olaf/Net-DNS-0.60/
The change for this upstream issue is included:
http://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=23961
Since this fix has security implications (making DNS
spoofing more difficult), pushing updates to all current
versions of fedora.
Note - I know of no exploits for the security issue
described above.

* Sat Jun 23 2007 Robin Norwood <rnorwood(a)redhat.com> - 0.60-1
- Upgrade to latest upstream version - 0.60
- Included changes from 0.59-2 in F-7:
- Fixed issues brought up during package review
- BuildRequires should not require perl, and fixed the format.
- Fixed the BuildRoot
