The top command provides a repetitive update of the statuses of running processes. The free command displays the amounts of free and used memory on your system. The skill command sends a terminate command (or another specified signal) to a specified set of processes. The snice command is used to change the scheduling priority of specified processes. The tload command prints a graph of the current system load average to a specified tty. The uptime command displays the current time, how long the system has been running, how many users are logged on, and system load averages for the past one, five, and fifteen minutes. The w command displays a list of the users who are currently logged on and what they are running. The watch program watches a running program. The vmstat command displays virtual memory statistics about processes, memory, paging, block I/O, traps, and CPU activity. (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor) Description : PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language. PHP attempts to make it easy for developers to write dynamically generated webpages. PHP also offers built-in database integration for several commercial and non-commercial database management systems, so writing a database-enabled webpage with PHP is fairly simple. The most common use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI scripts. The php package contains the module which adds support for the PHP language to Apache HTTP Server. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information: This update fixes a number of security issues in PHP. A heap buffer overflow flaw was found in the PHP 'xmlrpc' extension. A PHP script which implements an XML-RPC server using this extension could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code as the 'apache' user. Note that this flaw does not affect PHP applications using the pure-PHP XML_RPC class provided in /usr/share/pear. (CVE-2007-1864) A flaw was found in the PHP 'ftp' extension. If a PHP script used this extension to provide access to a private FTP server, and passed untrusted script input directly to any function provided by this extension, a remote attacker would be able to send arbitrary FTP commands to the server. (CVE-2007-2509) A buffer overflow flaw was found in the PHP 'soap' extension, regarding the handling of an HTTP redirect response when using the SOAP client provided by this extension with an untrusted SOAP server. No mechanism to trigger this flaw remotely is known. Description : The Network Information Service (NIS) is a system that provides network information (login names, passwords, home directories, group information) to all of the machines on a network. NIS can allow users to log in on any machine on the network, as long as the machine has the NIS client programs running and the user's password is recorded in the NIS passwd database. NIS was formerly known as Sun Yellow Pages (YP). This package provides the ypbind daemon. The ypbind daemon binds NIS clients to an NIS domain. Ypbind must be running on any machines running NIS client programs. Install the ypbind package on any machines running NIS client programs (included in the yp-tools package). Description : The FreeRADIUS Server Project is a high performance and highly configurable GPL'd free RADIUS server. The server is similar in some respects to Livingston's 2.0 server. While FreeRADIUS started as a variant of the Cistron RADIUS server, they don't share a lot in common any more. It now has many more features than Cistron or Livingston, and is much more configurable. FreeRADIUS is an Internet authentication daemon, which implements the RADIUS protocol, as defined in RFC 2865 (and others). It allows Network Access Servers (NAS boxes) to perform authentication for dial-up users. There are also RADIUS clients available for Web servers, firewalls, Unix logins, and more.
