HelloI have 2 problem's: - when i try to import a STL file for slicing in BeamConstruct the orientation is wrong (Z axis become Y axis, so i need to rotate every time 90 by X axis). I tried with several STL files from different software's and even downloaded from internet.
- Is very frustrate to center a sliced STL in BeamConstruct, i select "Show 3D Mesh" so i can edit the geometry, but the "Center" buttons are disabled. I have to place it manually (the biggest problem with manual placing is on the Z axis, there the bottom of the model need to be exact)
P.S. I spiked with Mr. Michael about too!! Thank you!
Hello,
regarding your problems:
The example STL files you sent to us are OK but the vector data simply come with the orientation you are complaining about. So it seems to be an issue of the application exporting these files. STL file format itself does not provide a global matrix/rotation/orientation information that could influence the whole file and therefore rotate the 3D mesh globally.
Centering in XYZ and setting positions for 3D meshes will be added in next version of BeamConstruct, which itself will be published within next few days. Using them you can align an imported model easily.
Kind regards
Jim

I have download the last version if the software v3.6-5 and i notice some changes:- you manage to resolve the position error. X,Y,Z center buttons are active and working, but only for small model's. I try to center a bigger 3d model with no success, software not responding! And i think i spot some bugs: - If you try to position a 3d model by "Bottom Right", let set 1mm in Z and hit "enter" or click random, software not responding, i manage to get it to work by tipping 1mm in "Bottom Right" Z and click to in window: "Size" Z, all is perfect. I hope you understood what i meant!- In isometric view the window is empty, No model! My problem with flipped STL still persist. This is a nebulous to me!!!!I keep try to understand why in any other software when i import a STL, the software knows the exact location relative to origin and it's in correct orientation. But in BC i have this problemMore strange is that only I have this problem! To reproduce your problem please provide the following data:
- an (empty) BeamConstruct project file so that we can see your configuration - your STL model - your exact slicing parameters
When this includes some sensitive data please do not send them via this public mailing list but contact us directly.

Dear James,
I already have got an answer from openapc. Actually the message I have got was on a mailing list which I subscribed some time ago. And therefore your problem is public. I do not understand why this is not just like a forum. Than I would know my problem is public. Did you put your problem on a mailing list? Now everybody sees the email address etc. A forum would be the better way.
Kind regards,
Klaus

In this case do not unsubscribe. But if the content of the mailing list is for public please unsubscribe.
BTW Is there a routine to communicate with the RS232 directly. Means to set single pins like DRS or TDX?
